Roof Bars

Are the genuine Audi bars unique to the A2?

I need some for cycle carriers, but there's no way I'm going to pay the £130 stealer price, and I'm dubious of third party roof bars

I have some Thule ones and they work fine, about a £100, more if you want the Aero bars, use them for Longboards and they work well. I seem to remember there is a max weight you should load, a few bikes may exceed that.

I Have just acquired some Audi roofbars for my A2 from another A2OC member .I was stuck in a traffic jam the other day ,when a New shape beetle was parked beside me and the roofrack looked practically identical to mine so maybe they are the same ,may be worth finding out as they might be cheaper than Audi Bars ..........

For the A2 Thule reccommend;

Gutterless Foot Pack
Part #: 750
UK RSP: £60.00

Bars - 120cm
Part #: 761
UK RSP: £30.00

Rapid Fitting Kit
Part #: 1195
UK RSP: £25.00

And for the Beetle;

Gutterless Foot Pack
Part #: 750
UK RSP: £60.00

Bars - 120cm
Part #: 761
UK RSP: £30.00

Rapid Fitting Kit
Part #: 1094
UK RSP: £25.00

So I would say they differ slightly!

The roof bars will all vary as roof curvature & profile varies from car to car, the A2 Audi set I have have shorter 'legs' at the front than the back to make the bars level to each other, also the angle of the foot will also change, my advise is to either get the genuine Audi set of a Thule set, at least should you require to use the thule set on another car you can do, by the way I got mine free from the Stealer when I bought the car!
