Hi everyone, and thanks for having this great community.
Bought a well maintained 1.4 TDI from a local enthusiast. 276tkm on the clock. Hope to get fun miles with this.
Will accompany a slightly modified GR Yaris in my garage that will move more towards fun/hobby car and Audi takes the daily duties.

Car itself has almost all the equip there was possible to be selected. Quite nice car to drive, like the lightness and seats.

Car just got an oil change + timing belt and water pump done.

Living in Finland, Helsinki capital area.

Just checked in local registry that in Finland there is still 406 A2 registered, of which 90 being diesel models. so not that common car anymore.

The service booklet seemed to be full for this car, wonder if you can get a new one from Audi dealership? (or how it should be managed to get more sheets of paper in the book? :D

Did a 500km tour via small roads and then back on motorway.
- gmbh suspension is quite impressive in corners, car does not tilt at all!
- overall happy with performance and consumption.

Car has shakiness in steering on higher speeds (although it appears to sometimes go away little bit?).
Right side wheels have been curbed at some point so assuming it could be those wheels that are out of balance or old tyres.
But is there anything else I could check from suspension that could cause this?

Sweet ride! Performance and handling will struggle to compete with the GR but fuel economy will be a hands down win!

It seems like the Gr Yaris is a good companion for the little a2s .I’ve also got the same..😉….arrived yesterday

did a 1tkm road trip around southern Finland with A2. shakiness was getting very irritating but luckily found a VERY good deal on 15" pepperpots and now shakeness is gone. Need to refurb those original 17" RS4 replicas but the 15" wheels are there to stay..

Size is actually oversize 195/65/15 but for the eco suv concept I think its a good fit.

Thought of getting a another control arms and rear axle (steel ones) and recondition them - are they all A2 spesific parts or do other VW model component fit?

Someone on this forum last year fitted a Polo one with a little modification:

As you saw, I'm on a long project to replace mine. Looking at the UK cost of a new Polo axle (£140) and the cost to have my axle shot blasted and 2 coats of epoxy paint (£250) then I should probably gone for the Polo one.

There are a choice of steel or cast iron control arms (wishbones). The steel corrode eventually but have the advantage of having a replaceable ball joint. A VERY long thread here:

Best to jump to the end and see what people are fitting recently. In Finland you will have different availability.

Your A2 looks very good for the km it has done.

PS In 2017 we went to Helsinki and one day took a trip to Hvitträsk near you. A very enjoyable visit.

Thanks @Alan_uk for the tips! I need to read those topics through - Polo axle sounds like a good option.
Yeah A2 has been maintained well so hope it will give good kms still. will try to continue keeping it in good condition.
I know the Hvitträsk, I (gravel)bike around it quite often and live not so far away from it. nice area..

Yes - I live in Savo and commute regularly to pääkaupunkiseutu - our warehouse is up by the Airport in Koivuhaka. But I'm out for the next few weeks, mostly in the UK and Germany.

You should bring the GR to IT25 :)

When initially looked the oil level it was a bit below top mark so added 0.5ltr more oil. now it seems to be on max.
The engine sounded little quieter after oil fill when idling, or then I might be just dreaming.

Engine compartment looked like it was not washed ever so tried to clean up places a bit. not fully clean but at least somewhat better.

Received a 60tkm maintenance items and planning to do them in next few months. That is replacing
- oil filter
- glow plugs
- fuel filter not sure if will do it - need to check how difficult the access is.

Dreaming to get a lift in garage but it has not yet happeded. would help maintenance work greatly.

Planning to do RVS treatment when car is next time near oil change.
Friend is working in the business and have used it successfully in all my cars since 10 years (including a race car).

if youre interested I can ask for a discount code for forum members.

substance improves the mechanical losses of the engine by creating a nano coating on surfaces.
Usually have noticed this in turbo cars with improved response and spool. its marginal but noticeable. In tests engines have improved their power delivery and fuel economy has improved aswell.

Fun to see how a2 reacts as have used it usually with new or cars under 100tkm.
