seal on headlight damaged

Hi folks, just found this forum so happy. I took my car to get a new buld fitted the other week, my missus spotted yesterday that there was a load of water in the head light, after lookin closely the seal looks like its not seated properly. We rang the garage and they said we need a new head light unit? it never use to leak before. Any help would be great:)

Welcome to the club.

If indeed you do need a new light unit, check out the ebay listings as there are usually one or two on there.

However, if I was you, firstly I would remove the headlight, dry it out and try some weather resistant sealant from one of our friendly DIY stores to see if this eradicates the problem. (There are several threads on headlight removal - just run a search).

How much water was in the headlight? Condensation is a known issue and several members have had success by placing those silica gel sachets in the headlight unit itself.

Cheers,

Darren

Thanks, you can actually see the seal on the head light is not seated correctly so might av a go at taking the unit out and re-seating it

Which seal are you refering to?

If its the one on the back, on the access flap, to allow access to the electrics/ change a bulb, that can be bought as a spare part.
