Seduced by extras. Caveat emptor!

That's been a quick year!

Since 2018 it had a visit to WOM for gearbox turret, exhaust flex, gearbox oil change, rear brakes, service and MOT.
Had the Timmus on it for CC, MFSW, connects thingy and I continue to drive it and forget about it.

It does everything it should, without complaint, until....

The wheel bearing off side was a bit noisey, so took it to a local VAG independent and got this

Have been promising myself to get a few jobs done, so this will be the catalyst.

So a quick attack while I'm feeling keen

That was the easy bit. Time then to get the grown-ups toys out.

Didn't think it was going to do it. Took the under tray off ready to remove the shaft. Went to the n/s side and tried that one. It's a very satisfying bang when it finally lets go. Then went back to the o/s and tried again, BANG, that one gave aswell. It then has to be pushed/pulled? the whole way out.

Everything came apart Ok except the TRE nuts, I had to split them. Even the speed probes came out.

Tomorrows a clean up day, off to Snowdonia on Monday so may drop off the bearings for pulling on that am.

Audi must have had a deal on that 'anti fretting compound' cos they used it liberally
along with a little rust it makes them a pig to remove

My good lady has fallen out with this one. But loved the colour of the Blue storm. I like the reliability of the TDI, all the toys i've had fitted and the tow bar.

So this happened:-

I'm going to be left with just the rear quarters to A pillar section to get painted.

It's a good job it's warm, she looks a bit undressed. A lot of the interior panels are nicer than mine, so off they've come.

The grey removed body panels have gone off to one member, and the running & rolling shell is off to another member on saturday.

Will then be waiting for a slot at @timmus for tailgate and PDC

For which that member is eternally grateful.
They will allow my Dolphin Grey TDI to be returned to its former glory. ?

Looking good and if the grey one had OSS then really will look like a storm. If not as you need to get some repainted why not also paint the roof. Not sure but may be wise to inform DVLA of the "colour change" to save police stopping you randomly as they would expect to see a grey car with that registration plate and not a blue one.

The grey does have ISS in a semi working state. Probably wouldn't have bothered without.
Noted on colour change.

This arrived today, what have I done? will now need a front bumper painting

Very nice indeed. I enjoyed fitting the larger washer bottle to Project OEM. I also need to get my Ebony Black Headlamp Washer Bumper painted to Azure Blue.

I’m hoping I can find one in the right colour before I part with £250 for a professional paint job.

Good luck with the retrofit.

Kind regards,

Tom

Not sure how on Earth I missed this thread. Very interesting project and surprisingly the second one to have been done like this this year.
