Hi all,

Just out of interest does anyone know how to turn off the service indicator? I've read it's mentioned in the manual? Unfortunately mine's in storage.

Cheers everyone

As far as I know the service indicator is re-set via a laptop computer or some similar Audi device, but I may be wrong! The dealer can re-set the service indicator for either variable servicing (the type where your engine won't last too long or to fixed (10,000 mile intervals) recommended by most people in the trade.
There are several other settings that can be altered such as setting the doors to lock automatically on driving off which I had switched on my wife's car.

It is normal to reset the service indication lights through a laptop but I work as a engineer on Volvo and you can read the diagnostic trouble codes on volvo by holding in the read button and pressing on fog light button 2times.

I think Audi also has these kind of features because they´re also using Bosch engine managment and CAN communication in the car?

Anyone who knows how you reset the service indication lamp without a laptop and how you check the trouble codes if you don´t want to pay 200 swedish crowns for a man in a laptop saying there are none.

You can only reset the service indicator with a laptop, a cable and the VAG-COM Software (a shareware Version can be downloaded at http://www.ross-tech.com. With that software you can also read the fault codes...

So I suppose there aren´t any special tricks if you push the buttons or something in a special order?

While the ignition is off, hold down the clock and odometer buttons in the dashboard (between rev meter and speedo) and start the car. This resets the counter to something like 9800 miles. !!WARNING!! If you have VSI (variable service interval), it will change it to fixed service intervals (as I found out...).
