Service light is not coming on (two year limit almost up)

It will be two years on the 1st of June, since the car had it's delivery service at the factory, but the service light for the 1st service is still not coming on. It's on longlife /variable service intervals. I would have expected it to come on since it is so close now.

If I press the button it says: Service in 7000 kms. Nothing about the two year limit.

It has just passed 34000 kms (21100 miles).
How many days before the limit is up should the light come on? (If any)

From what I remember it will only come on when it reaches 2000 miles to go.. and is not time dependant.

SO as you are still under warranty I would get it booked in, Audi do have a time limit as to how far past the due date the service is whilst still under warranty before it becomes void.

Once its out of warranty you can go by the miles to service indicator and have it serviced when it tell you, this could be greater than two years.

Some things I would do is still have done would be the brake fluid changed on a two year basis, the cam belt etc at the stated mileage.

I just found the information in ElsaWin and the warning "SERVICE!" should come on one month before due, so something is not right here.

Will disconnecting the battery affect the variable service interval calculation? I'm wondering if this has anything to do with the service light not coming on.

Mine came on 2 months after the 2 years were up and at a mileage of 30100 with 900 miles to go

My experience is similar to Colin's. I had the service done at the 2 year limit but this was not flagged up by the indicator.
Personally I think the vsi idea is a bit of a gimick done for the benifit of company car owners. I change the oil at 10,000 miles or yearly, which ever comes first and use vsi spec oil.

Thanks for charing the information. I do feel tempted to drive until it comes on. But in case the turbo or anything else that is covered by my insurance breaks, I don't like the thought of having a discussion with my insurance company why the car hasn't been serviced inside the 24 months. I bet they will take every chance not to pay out.

Have it serviced, it's 24 months or untill VSI tells you to open your wallet, could pose warranty dificulties if you don't! and you seem to have a years warranty left from the date of your car in your sig assuming yours is as the UK one

Cheers
Mike

Here, only the first 2 years is Audi new car warranty. After that my insurance is covering the car until 8 years old or 100000 kms (60000 miles) what ever comes first. I'm going to have it serviced on the 1st of June.
