Service Offered: A2 OSS Sunroof Repair

Hi kleynie, posted a good while back re my sons roof....working, but but not fully opening on lady couple of inches. Can you remind me on what’s best, was it the 300+ works? Or a repair? First car for him, Sod’s law any prangs will wipe the car out knowing insurance companies so don’t want to go too mad, drop me a pm if you would please, along with how long for suggested works, i’m Other side of m25 in Kent. Thanks, Mark

Hi I’m quite interested in the OSS service my roof is fully working but I would like to keep it this way!

As depronman says, there are significant differences and the supports have to be stronger in order to hold the roof, however, I believe it has been done before, so not entirely impossible. Not something I would be willing to try to be honest.

Came across this one for retrofitting; there is a PDF on top with all required part numbers.

Alot of photos of the retrofit; no tig welding, and it seems like structure is identical but the front/rear crossbeams are replaced in order to get the aluroof out.

That really is impressive, A service you would consider in the future?

Is the sunroof repair still available and if so can I book my A2 in please? It appears that cable to close has broken on the front section, drivers side. Thanks

I would highly recommend this service. Dan offers a professional and very efficient sunroof repair. He certainly exceeded my expectations.

Hello Kleynie, I'm looking at an A2, the OSS has taken a hit on the front glass panel abutting the windshield, it's all crazed! otherwise the sunroof appears to work. Is this repairable?

I'm sure Adam will respond though yes, the fixed front glass section can be replaced. If trying to get the attention of another member its worth flagging them with an @Username, like this, @Kleynie

Hi all,

I finished the first sunroof tonight for Mr Birchall, so thought it'd be good to write an official advert for the service in which interest can be listed. So, here are the options:

1: Repair Only
By this, I mean that the roof will work as from factory, however, no new parts are included with the exception of the repair plates needed, these are £58 each and are included in the price of this service. If all goes to plan, this is one weekends work. The price for one repair only is £358 + £60 for fitting (if more parts are needed, you will be notified).

2: Full Refurbishment
This service is different to the repair as all runners and moving parts will be replaced, the total cost of the parts is around £450 and this is included in the price. The cost of this service, is £700 + £60 for fitting.

3: OSS Service
As given away by the title, a simple service to keep the working roofs working. Includes panel re alignment if needed, re grease, blind cleaning and a check for any breaking pieces in the roof. afterwards I will notify you on whether all parts are factory original or if it has had parts replaced over it's lifetime. The roof does not have to come out for this and it can be done in a matter of around 2 hours. The price of one service is £80.

These repairs and services are OEM repairs with genuine Audi parts, using the repair method supplied by Audi.

I'm pretty convinced that this isn't the case, my lads front glass section abutting the top of the windscreen is also badly damaged and after extensive research and questions i've been told it is bonded to the frame that carries the glass sections and cannot be removed.
Im still open to be proved wrong though.

This is incorrect. It is bonded to the oss frame as is the rear section but when I refurbish an oss I have to remove the rear glass panel and bond it back in place on re assy.
The glass section is actually bolted to the oss rails with some sealant hence the bonded

With the oss out of the car it will be possible to remove the front glass section and replace it with a second hand glass panel
I have a oss in the garage which I would be willing to sacrifice for what it cost me

If I had an OSS I would definitely be using this invaluable service.
Looks like we have yet another A2 genius at our disposal. Now I can buy my next A2 with an OSS with no worries thanks to @Kleynie Well done and good luck to you in all your endeavours.

UPDATE TIME:
Audi have upped the price of refurb parts, from £470 to £570, which means I am unfortunately going to have to up the price to £850 for a refurb.
I'm sorry to have to up the price.
Thanks for understanding.

Adam

An unavoidable increase from your side Adam. Do you know if Audi are increasing the price at their end due to limited parts or is it simply a case of unscrupulous inflation?

Perhaps Crewe Audi could offer a better rate, though you may already be buying from them and/or the pricing may be consistent across the board. Bulk buying may yield some discount possibly, so could be an option to explore.

Thanks for providing the well-regarded service that you do.
