Silver Strip Repaint

Hi All,

The silver strip that forms the link between the bumper and tailgate (I'm sure it has a proper name?) is flaking at the edges and I was considering sanding it off, priming and painting it satin black or similar. Visually I think it would look good, if done correctly.

My question is, what kind of paint should I use? I know that some swear by Plastidip but I'm concerned that it would start flaking over time, especially being in contact with a moving body panel. Is there a particular paint favoured by some hear and should I also use a sealant in addition?

Many thanks in advance.

Evening,

I've not done this task before but was close to doing it on my last A2 before it died. I was going to wrap that part in a chrome foil product. This would of course not flake in the future but not sure how good it would adhere as didn't get to do it as the A2 gave up on me before I started the job.

If no one can suggest a decent finish paint, this might be worth considering.

Kind regards,

Tom

That's interesting to hear, Tom. Do you remember the name of the product you were planning to use for the wrap? Something worth considering.
