Slow to react throttle

On ours fitting a new throttle body and EGR as well as refurbished injectors and then eventually plugs, cables and new coil made a huge difference between it not running well at all to being about as good as it can be (at 190-odd-thousand miles and after years of neglect) - and without having a 'performance' exhaust to compare back to back, I don't think we'd get much more without spending some serious cash that I don't have. For a car that does 3-4k per year commuting and runs to the shops etc., not really worth it ; the main thing for me has been learning how to drive it in contrast to the Tdi-engined cars. I've mentioned here before - I got used to an AUA or similar being pretty gutless low down in my Mum's (new) Polo around 20 years ago compared to the rather torquier-feeling (but not as revvy) 1.4 8-valve engine in the Polo that preceded it, and never bothered trying to thrash it to extract the performance back then (I only became a boy racer once I grew up!!). It was only on this one once I'd fitted all the new bits that I realised there was an entire dimension of performance above 3500rpm that I'd never realised existed hitherto, and with the suspension refurb and light front end it is very nice on country roads. I wouldn't want to drive it to Plymouth from here though ; that is what my Tdi is for. Agree about properly-installed cruise from @timmus though - it makes motorway journeys a breeze.
I can't agree more Robin, the cost of all those parts would be a bit of a hit I'd of thought but I can imagine it making a huge difference.
Yes the CC is just a delight, it made the return journey so much easier plus the economy is improved with a constant set speed, that said I filled up before driving to Tom's and I drove 315 miles on half a tank, I was impressed with that.

I will soon remove body valve for maintenance. Is there any guide that explains how to clean it ? Thanks …

Thanks Tom, I have read it. There are not so many info about body valve cleaning.
I will keep on searching on web…

Does a throttle pedal position reset work on the Audi A2?
It works on my Vw Polo.
Engine off - key in and turn till lights on dash on - foot to floor on accelerator pedal for 10 seconds -foot off -key out.
Some cars have a memory of who’s driving and their style of driving ( more than 1 person drives the car) this reset puts it back to how it came from factory.

I have talked with the workshop and they said they can clean the body valve without removing it. They have a special spray that dissolves carbon residues. I wonder all these dirty parts will finish into engine. What do you think about this ? Better to remove ?
