Slow to react throttle

My 1.4 petrol has a sluggish throttle response. Push down the peddle & there is a delay before the engine revs up so difficult to maintain say 2000 rpm. Any ideas ? please?

It will give you some ideas but not as specific as vcds will provide

MAF'S used to do this, you could try unplugging and seeing if the default open circuit state is better than potentially duff info currently been supplied! This would put the engine light on thou so be warned if you cant clear fault codes yourself

Yes agreed a lack of maf data causes the ecu to use a default maf map which whilst not perfect is far better than dodgy info from a knackered maf sensor

The 1.4i doesn’t have a MAF only a MAP sensor

I think the same would apply Ecu will use a default map if it can’t see the map sensor

The map is mounted to the drivers end of the inlet manifold if memory serves. Attaches with 2 small torx screws
He can always clear the code using obd11

Yep easy to take the plug out of, but tricky to change

Not at all, just saving him searching for it, the map sensor is cam belt side with the plug facing up by the way

Rightly so too! more than happy if i am ever off the mark to corrected, especially saving a wild goose chase!!

so that should allow you to read any errors... but I would have though any MAP / MAF errors would result in an orange light.
