Social meeting - Scotland

Not long now folks! Look forward to see everyone . I'll pick up some of our far travelled attendees at Glasgow airport tonight. Hopefully I've PM everyone with contact details for myself and James and I note Euan has offered assistance too so we are well covered.

We've even got the novelty of a bring and buy boot sale so 'fill yer boots' if you fancy. :)

Safe driving once again and see you all tomorrow morning from 1030. Ill intend being there early to find a good spot in the car park where we can show off these fantastic wee cars.

Directions if required are in the thread from all directions courtesy of James ( and Google) plus we have local knowledge with Euan if there are any hiccups.

It has been a great day, thanks to all who attended and special thanks to Sarge who remembered to bring the weather and all our chums from the South who made the trip! I look forward to see Sarges photos soon. Here is a taster

Agree it was a brilliant day. City centre walk for some attendees with some good sight seeing followed by a meet for the 12 fantastic A2s (And fantastic owners) at the museum. Highlights for me included the tall ship berthed alongside and the steam trains of yesteryear. The convoy to Luss was excellent in the bright sunshine and although very busy for parking I think a great time was had by all. Great company and great A2 chat. Thanks everyone and again looking forward to the photos from Sarge who did a great job documenting the day in pictures.

Till next time safe home everyone

It really was a fantastic day, not only the weather, not only the cars, not only the museum, not only the Tall ship, not only the amazing Luss, not only being chauffeured around in a super A2 TDI 90 by my mate Murdo, not only spending time with a great group of people, but the way that we were all made to feel welcome, made the trip one I will never forget.

It was made even more special by the fact that Sarge came too and was able to enjoy the day to the full.

I know this all sounds a bit OTT, but I genuinely enjoyed every minute of it.

Well on Saturday Steve Birchall and I took a flight to another country, a country that I have never been to before, yes its true!, a country that I dicovered is where men are men and women are., well ….women :D.

Upon arrival we disembarked and were greeted by Murdo who guided us outside the airport and guess what? Yes, they have transportation devices which we know as cars, over there too! It’s TRUE!...honest!

They even have marked white lines on the ground which were neatly aligned which we in the South call parking spaces, I couldn’t even distinguish between our parking spaces in the South and theirs! Strangely though, what they refer to as ‘wee cars’ even looked like cars we’re all used to seeing, Oh my, will I be able to take many more surprises in this strange country, it was all becoming overwhelming :D could this country, this new world, be a similar to ours?! Although, a ’wee’ means something totally different to us and we would never call our cars that for obvious reasons to us, but perhaps they’ve not worked that one out over there as yet.

But there’s more! I was surprised to discover that the steering wheel on Murdo’s 'wee' car was on the same side as us! …it’s even a bloody round shaped wheel, just like ours, honestly, and, get this, they even drive on the same side of the road! Wow! Although, they call it a ‘raooo’d’ over there.

It Gets better! In this strange country, they also spoke something like words and I was further stunned to find, I could understand what the locals were saying…well some of the time anyway …lol.

My carry on luggage was very heavy as I had packed some sunshine with us to gift it to the poor locals so they could get to see what this strange blinding light looks like ;), What I didn’t see coming, was that when I released the Sunshine, first thing in the morning, it gradually worked its way over the Motoring Museum then onto to Loch Lammond, and for them, as this was something of an extraordinary event to see, they all shot down to Loch Lammond, it was as if they’d seen an alien spaceship landing and were totally mesmerised by it! All of Scotland must have gathered to see this unusual event, and this even caused, dare I say it, many miles of TRAFFIC! Now that IS, what we’re used to seeing in the south! I decided to leave them enough for about 5 day’s worth, so enjoy! Courtesy of the South.

I’m just glad I was only there just for the day to begin with, as I was so overwhelmed with all that I was discovering in this strange country, that I could have passed out!

The Museum was a brilliant treat, (a must visit!) being an Engineer it was right up my street as I was like a kid in a sweet shop!

All in all a Brilliant weekend was had by all. It was a pleasure to meet you all individually.

Thank you to everyone who attended and for having us, Thanks to Murdo for arranging airport runs and hotel, also a very special thank you to Steve Birchall for very kindly dealing with the travelling arrangements for me, which made it possible for me to go and for his wonderful company.

This one is surely one I'll truly not forget, after all, you never forget stepping foot in a new country! :D

Sorry for the delay in uploading pics. There is now 'four' links for four parts, I think all pictures should now be up and running :)

Gary, as Steve says, we've discovered your 'off shore' so to speak, savings storage building or garage of yours!

Great to see such a fabulous array of A2s and their owners. It looks like it was a really great event, with the weather holding out too as an added bonus.

The photographs look fantastic and convey the event well; credit to those behind the lens.

I note in a couple of Sarge's photos that the Scottish hospitality even extended to inviting a celebrity; a current, Glasweigen Doctor... High plaudits indeed. Any chance you can get Peter to go back in time and correct Audi's mistake to stop A2 production? :p

Well done all.
