Soft touch paint marker fix!

Hey all! Just got my A2 and working through a few small things. My radio had the usual Audi soft touch wear and I decided to fix it with a simple black paint marker.

Things you’ll need:
1. Black Paint Marker ( £2)
2. Patient and steady hands ( I don’t have these lol)

I’ve attached before and after photos and I hope this might inspire others to follow suit!

Naturally, it’s really not a very perfect outcome, but I use my car for work and spend many hours driving at nights and could never stand seeing the light coming through the rubbed down bits.

The effort is good, but there are better ways to fix those. If you don't want to spend plenty of money and time to change every soft-touch surface to hard-touch ones, this might be a good solution. By the way, that blue colour looks great on your A2.

Was also looking for an easy way to touch up the missing paint and asked someone who paints miniatures.
They recommended ak-interactive's smoke black and the end result looks pretty decent as the colour matches rather well.
It did look a little bit streaky when I painted a larger surface on the light dial using a very fine brush, but with more experience and steadier hands I think you can get a nice even coating.

Markers and some paints could end up causing more damage to the coating as the other chemicals they contain could react with the Audi finish. Rather than those methods the sticker sets would make more sense. But for best results its either replacing the worn items with replacement perfect items or have the surface refinished by James.

Oh yes I should clarify that I sanded off the existing coating.
