soft touch switches

I’ve used them on my climate control as the temp button was worn clear through. As such it’s quite noticeable given how much “blacker” that button is on its own. But I still think it looks better than it did and I guess if you did the lot it wouldn’t stand out as much. Quality is ok and it hasn’t peeled off

Can look good if you make sure the outer edges are precoloured black to prevent the red light bleeding through. Replacing the buttons is the "better" option. For the concert 2 stereo you can buy any Concert 2 from the Audi range and swap the buttons over and for the climate either a replacement hard touch or excellent soft touch is ideal or the buttons only from a 2000 Audi A4 unit although they are as black as the stickers. For the light switch either replace the light switch surround with or without the switch behind or retrofit an auto light switch that requires the old symbols area removing to take the new switch.

Hi Maria,

Unsightly worn buttons are very common, not just A2. Stickers are economical and can work very well if applied carefully, take your time.

Other refurbishment options exist, a good review is this thread.

I bought some off eBay from Portugal they looked good for about a year, then the edges started to peel so set about getting a hard touch climate.

Lucky to pick one up on eBay for £40 which someone replaced the buttons for A4 hard touch and matched the surround colour perfectly. Put my old soft touch unit on eBay with a pack of new stickers I had bought and it made £60.

My radio stickers are lasting well. Did clean the sticker contact area with cotton bud and acetone, and a quick run with wet ,n dry, After applying the transfer/sticker, you should use a hair dryer to activate the adhesive.
The Portuguese site, www.autostickers.pt seems to be largely inactive, but there's a Chinese alternative (isn't there always).

Not just radio buttons, all sorts!
Mac.

I bought a set of stickers to mask the icons on worn buttons so you can respray them, hard touch only though, you clean the paint off the button apply the right sticker to the button paint it black then peel the sticker off to reveal the white icon underneath, work well but fiendishly fiddly, set included air on, radio, light switch cup holders and a few others, maybe worth looking into.

I got a set off ebay from someone in Latvia; they're a very good fit, still sticking on perfectly, must be nearly 2 years now. Can look it up if anyone needs it.

These any use?

Soft touch

Hi Christoph, can you post a link for these masking stickers, I have been looking for ages and can't find them anywhere - I know the other type are readily available but would like to try this method.
Many thanks ... Tom

Hi Christoph ... just had a reply from Borislav Rumenov Petrov, who supplied the masking stickers in one of the previous posts ... the price is now €35 plus postage, seems a bit expensive now and by the time you have bought primer, colour and lacquer it's probably less expensive to use the buttons of a second hand hard touch unit.
