Something to revitalise the engine?

Hi fellow A2ers,

Love the website, good to know there are other A2 owners who appreciate such a classy and well made car!

What can I use in the fuel tank to clean, revitalise and care for the engine? What has worked best for you?

I have an A2 1.6 FSI Sport 11 years young.

Any helpful hints, tips about caring for my engine appreciated.

I highly recommend Archoil. I use it in engine, gearbox and servo servosystem and I also have their diesel fuel adative. Did magic for my TDI90. They use nano tech.
 
Not a huge believer in engine aditives personally.
For the Fsi the single best thing you can do is use good super unleaded fuel, and nothing else.
Shell v power or tesco momentum are my normal fuels.
Unlike most engines the fsi was designed specifically to get the best out of these 97RON and better fuels.
 
currently Liquimoly Injection Cleaner. Seems to have helped the lumpy idle and it's running smoother. Only on the second tank / can, and I'm intending to run it for five. Let's see what happens.

What's an "Italian tune up"? And do I just pour the additive directly into the fuel tank?

Has anyone steam cleaned their engine?
 
You can always try pouring an Italian in the tank but I think they might object....... :p Driven with brio, give it a good work out! It will clear the cars lungs! I NEVER steam clean an engine: water + electrics = not good outcome :eek:.
 
injection cleaner just goes into the tank, I dropped a complete can in there when I filled up on the way home Wednesday evening. As said, I'll be running it for around 2000kms, to see if it makes a difference when it's no longer in there :)

Thank you. I filled the tank with V power and can really feel the difference. And the price has come down so that's a bonus. As for the Italian job, sounds just what the doctor ordered. Cheers.
 
hi, I don't know if where you live it's possible to buy the XFT by Syntek....
anyway I found it one of the best to clean and give e new life to the engine
