sounds like central locking when key in ignition?

Hi folks

Been away and haven't used the A2 for 3 weeks.

Got in today and unlocked with the keyfob. All good so far.
Put the key in the ignition, and the it sounded like the door were locking/unlocking twice... the sound seem to come from backseat(ish) perhaps drivers side??

I perhaps thought I'd actually pressed the fob, so when I stopped I got out, locked with fob [all good] and unlocked again, key in ignition and viola the '(un)locking sound again.

Any boffins know what's on it's way out?

The doors do lock & unlock correctly.

TIA

sounds like a possible fault with the door lock microswitch, which the car cannot be sure if the door is locked/unlocked. Mine did a double unlocking on the driver's door when I pull the key out (I have anti car jacking so it would auto unlock when I pull the key). If the switch is faulty, the diagnostic scan should say which door 'won't de-safe'.

Check for posts on here for replacing door microswitches. There is a very good photographic guide showing you "how to"

Thanks for that, but searching for what you mentioned doesn't show any relevant pages.

I've always thought the search facility on here is a bit flaky.
Searched for microswitches and viola, so here's the link if anyone else needs it.

Does anyone have the part number of this switch please?

I've a mate who breaks VW's so perhaps one from a polo/golf may fit??

Thanks again chaps.

Sound the same problem I have!

The car has always locked and unlocked OK so I have never been in a hurry to repair.

Run VAG.com you should get the codes below:

01561 - Left Rear Door
59-10 - Can't Unlock - Intermittent
01561 - Left Rear Door
61-10 - Won't De-Safe - Intermittent

There is a guide on how to remove the micro switch I think? on the site.
