speed sensors

Sorry - ABS. IT says it has a mechanical fault!!!!! NOt had a chance to look yet, but it illuminates ABS / ASR / Engine management lights for obviousl reasons.

The ABS sensor is fairly easy to change but check the wiring first as the cables are known to rub through, particularly if you have wide rims. The sensor sits behind the brake disc and is held in place with a single allen screw - use a small screwdriver to clean out all the gunge in the head of the screw before trying to fit the allen key. Disconnect the wiring connector before gently prising the sensor out of the hub.

Cheers Spike

Thanks - thats my task for this weekend then :)

Hope its wiring to fix as been quoted nearly £100 for a sensor - its only a sensor FFS....

The sensor is £44 plus the VAT - if it's not the wiring, I'll get you one if you like!

Cheers,

Mike

My wiring has gone on my ABS sensor.... Seems pretty cheap to replace but its been on back order now for 3 weeks....

Some clumbsy oaf managed to break it before I bought the car (2 years ago) and when I had the pads done they couldnt get the broken cable back onto the new pad... so I've been driving with the (!) in the dash for the last year but now going to fix it... (if the part ever arrives!)

Still trying to get it fixed up - even tho its now the missus's

Paddys,

|You are referring to the pad wear indicator, which, is the pins are still there, can be fixed for a quid!!

You don't need a full loom, just a new connector, into which the pins fit.

Don't confuse the speed sensor connector or the ABS sensor with the pad wear indicator.

Cheers,

Mike

My garage (when I lived in royston) had a good look at trying to fix it and couldnt - if it was possible I think they would have as they were that kind of garage.....

The cable is only about a tenner

Cheers, I'll try our local Parts group rather than the parts muppet in the dealers. Now I know what it should be - unless they were quoting me for 2!!!

replacing the sensor

i am trying to remove the ABS sensor and the b****r will not budge!
tried lots of lube spray etc, no joy
Clearly I have removed the bolt, and further advice other than persevere?
Also, when part nos are a and b for either RHS and LHS, when they RHS is that looking at the car from the front or back?
