Spring Loaded Gas Struts

I replaced ours with Febi Bilstein 27676, which are widely advertised by various vendors on eBay. They were £34.42 for the pair, delivered. The metal casing around the seal part of ours were rotten, so waiting to go bang. The Febi replacements are excellent quality, and a perfect fit.

Out of interest, I tried to order some parts from Audi Tradition, but they no longer ship to the UK since Brexit. Apparently it's because of the VAT issues. Fortunately we have many clients in Europe, so one of them kindly ordered them for me...

Tailgate stays up nicely, even when it's very cold and/or very windy. I'm extremely happy with the FEBI Bilstein units, and would recommend them.

The original units still worked perfectly, even though they were seriously rotten around the seal end. I though I had better replace them before they popped! Performance of the original and new units is virtually identical.

Following recommendations from several other buyers here, I bought these a couple of years ago:

They seem absolutely fine, no obvious problems thus far.
Hi Steve looking at changing my tailgate struts so you recommend these , how may years have you had them one?

2.5 years now. They've been fine for me, but although my A2 is my 'daily driver' it doesn't get used as much as I would like. I probably open my tailgate once a fortnight, other than when I go away.

I bought these struts because several other members here gave them a strong recommendation, but I was probably thinking that they were cheap enough to discard if they weren't up to the job anyway. But as I say, they've given me no trouble thus far.

More important is the extended and compressed lengths. If too long when compressed tailgate will not shut, if too short when extended may not open the hatch high enough or support the weight of the hatch.
Try these.

Is that a suggestion or a recommendation from a buyer?
