Squeaking brake pedal?

Hello all,

When I release the brake pedal it ‘squeeeeeeks’ a high pitched squeak up to the top.

It definitely feels like it’s coming from the pedal not anything mechanical. Just lightly touching the pedal stops the ‘squeak’ and it resumes when I let off.

I’ve tried lubricating what I can get to and have replaced the brake switch but it continues to sound like I have mice!

Any advice of a common place to cause squeaks which I can lubricate would be welcome

Thank you

Alex.

Sounds familiar although I'm curious about your diagnosis of where the sound is coming from. In my car I've noticed an occasional unwanted squeaking noise from the passenger side over the years.

Mercifully the driving test was passed so my other half drives herself mostly now... :)

Thanks folks.

Looks like the servo/brake booster has leaking seals.

There is a hissing with the engine running and the ‘squeak’ is actually a rather musical note from the gaitor acting on the moving air stream - like a flute.

I found a thread on here with a Gary Guide.

Dropping the engine is beyond me and Jigsaw’s ‘not hard’ isn’t the same as mine.

Looks like a garage visit for the little fella.

Thanks everyone for putting me on the right track.

Alex.
