The rear of my car squeeks when getting in or out. Have i got rubber mounts on my rear ? It goes sometimes after a trip but not always. Temp does not seem to play a part in the squeek. Have checked threads but these only seem to be about front roll bar mounts.
Any ideas

Have put out traps but caught nothing so far , am i using the wrong cheese. The wife and i are not pie eaters so the squeek ie definatly a car thing. Am all out of ideas please help. :)

Hi Britt
This does not appear to be a common problem - as you may have guessed by the lack of feedback.
Does this only happen while you are getting into the car or is the squeek apparent when the car is on the move.
If it's only while stationary, does it happen when the handbrake is off - try with the car in gear if necessary

squeek is only heard when getting into car. Can not hear while moving. The car is always left in gear while parked.

I have a similar 'squeek' that I think is linked to the handbrake mechanism in some way. May need adjusting/tightening up or just lubing.

Do you have discs at the rear or drums? Does it happen no matter how hard you pull the handbrake on?

The reason is that if you have drums and the handbrake is on only a moderate amount it could be that with weight (of you) getting into the car the suspension moves. This in turn moves the wheels slightly and it could simply be the sound of shoes against drums.

Or it could be nothing to do with this and you need a good hunting cat:D

Speaking of the handbrake, those of you that lives in sub-zero temperatures might have noticed that the rear brakes have a nasty habit of freezing up if left wet and with the parking brake on. If that happens, look for your heat gun, turn it on, point it towards the brake drums, and in a few minutes, the brakes are free. If you haven't got one, wait for warmer weather :)

After a stern interagation the present Mrs Britt admitted using the handbrake.I have now removed all traces of cheese from the car and will not be requiring the use of a good hunting cat. Many thanks to all for help. :D
