I am well pleased with myself as after being told by the garage that I need an ECU etc and will face a bill for £1200-£2000 I have managed to get to the bottom of my wifes A2 1.4 Petrol stalling/starting/ECU problems!
The car would sometimes stall at a junction when at idle and would sometime take its time starting. It never let us down but like previous blog from other members its started to become an issue with the wife!
If I drove the car on the motorway its was fine but when it stalled the EPC would come on.Also the Engine management control lights stayed on.When I checked the fault codes the Manifold Pressure Sensor was logged, every time i cleared it out it would come back when the car stalled.
I changed the MAP sensor or thrust sensor its now called at Audi and it was the same!! I then checked the crank case breather pipes for holes as tipped off in previous blog but no holes only heavy fretting. When I pulled off the manifold and pipe which leads back to the Manifold flow Sensor i found it completely bocked with yellow sludge! I cleaned out the pipes and sensor, cleaned the throttle valve and put it all back togeather. All the lights went out without any reset required and the car is now fixed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thought this info would be good for other petrol 1.4 owners and it might stop thoses expensive visits to the garage!!!!!!! Regards Steve
