Steering Column Switches.

Hi,
I need to access the indicator stalk wiring, to fit a (Kufatec) comfort blinker mod. Which bits of trim do I need to remove, and how's it done please?
Mac.

How to here:

Tell us how you get on was it this kit?

Hi,
Thanks for the info.
I only need to get to the indicator switch loom, not remove the switch itself. So, hoping I've only got to remove 5 Philips head screws, and remove the steering column shroud trim. Don't really want to get into removing airbag and the wheel!
Will report how I get on. Mac.

No dice, the wheel has to come off to remove the shroud. So, I'll remove the lower dash trim, and see if I can get at the loom before it enters the column shroud. Mac.

Why are you taking the steering column apart. Thought this kit plugs into the wiring on the indicator relay not on the steering indicator stalk. I would check the indicator relay before playing with the airbag etc.

The kit I have splices into the loom. It's not plug and play. Should have done a bit more research. Still, looks like I'll have to tread carefully. Mac.

I'd still imagine you'll access the necessary cables at the indicator relay. Care to link to the instructions or item?

The wires, in the indicator loom that I'm after are:
.
Indicator left – Loom Black/White PIN 3
Indicator right – Loom Black/Green PIN 11
Indicator – Loom Black/White/Green PIN 5

It would be great to find these three cables somewhere more accessible, like behind the centre console, radio, climate etc. Any help much appreciated. Mac.

I have never seen a 3 coloured cable in an a2s wiring loom? Also the pin outs are they from the stalk side?

Think they're available at the relay. Did you get a PDF.?

The instructions are very basic, just the three wires above, (plus ground and ignition switched 12 volts). Perhaps an Erwin session, and download the circuit diagrams. I'd like to know that what I'm looking for is there, before I start removing bits. Mac.

I think I'll go back to the supplier, for clarification, or return/refund. Life's to short for all this hassle. Thanks for your help. Mac.

Hi,
Thankyou very much, that would be a big help!
the three wires I need are, as you say,

Green (right)
green and black (left)
Black and red (current)

I think the Black/Red comes from the flasher relay (so accessible in centre console), to the switch common, while the other two (left & right) go to the actual indicator lamps, from the switch.
I'm hoping I can access them by removing the lower dash trim.
I also need an ignition switched 12 volts, and ground. I believe an ignition switched 12 volts is available at the Climate Control connector, ground is easy.
If you can confirm this on ELSA, (maybe that section of the circuit diagram) that would be fantastic. Thanks again. Mac.

Just to confirm you have a 1.6fsi?

If it is this is the wiring diagram you will need, if you need any help reading it let me know.
