Steering wheel rattle

Hi,

When i pull away with low revs the engine vibrates a fair amount, this is due to the gearbox top mount I believe so will adjust that later, however, that said the steering wheel goes up and down quite a lot. I cant manually move it up and down though which I find out.

Im picturing the connection of the rack and pinion having play. Has anyone else had a shaking heavy clunking steering wheel before?
I have been under tha car and tried to wobble any stering rack stuff I could be all felt solid, wheels off ground too.

Any ideas?

HI - i move this every day and it seems solid enough. the whole wheel goes up and down, feels like 'big' metal if you know what I mean?

ANyone got a schematic of the steering system maybe could see how the column ataches to the rack?

Update, nothing wrong with steering rack per se (is that right spelling?) It seems the side gearbox to chassis mount replacement has hugely improved it. It no longer rattles like it did. So I guess job done cheers
