It started when i changed gear now it happens some times when i am driving along in top gear.
The noise is difficult to explain it,s a dull deep hollow sound similar to when you say the word UGH !!
No i,m not going
Has anyone had similar experience?

It might be the widely reported 'mooing' sound that the EGR valve makes at a certain frequency / resonance. It is solved by moving the EGR solenoid away from the bodywork / bulkhead with a spacer. Search for 'moo' on this Forum and you should find plenty of posts.

Hi cyblyn,

I'm not sure to add links  but I had exactly the same problem. My guess is it makes also the noise if you are crawling in traffic and just blip the throttle? and it sounds like it is coming from the passenger footwell (on a RHD car!!)
Mine was under warranty and the Audi dealer fixed it by fitting a new EGR valve and solenoid (or sender unit / vacuum accuator??? the thing attached to it that makes it open:eek:).

From what I understand the mooing noise is a resonnance from one of the EGR pipes and is quite different to the bass drum "ugh" you are hearing, somebody correct me if I am way of base:confused:

Not sure how much this cost to fix, since it was done under the Audi used car warranty.

Cheers,

David
