Strange noise.....

Hi

For some reason my car has started making a strange sound, mostly noticable when reversing.

It sounds like a clapping sound and only occurs when the car is moving, so must be something to do with the drive chain rather than the engine.

It has now started doing it going forward and i really dont know what it is.

Any ideas as to what to check as i have no clue.

I had a similar clapping noise but it was not mechanical, it turned out to be a a bit of trim - one of the rivets had popped off.

I discovered it by taking it to a kwik fit garage and saying that I thought there was something wrong with the exhaust!
