Stuck catch on service module flap

The catch on my service module flap is stuck open (i.e. it's not secure, and can be pulled open without pulling the catch inside the car). Any ideas on how to free it off? I've tried spraying it with WD40, and pulling and pushing the release handle under the dash, but with no success.
 
Went to have another try at freeing off the catch today, and found it had fixed itself!:) The WD40 must have done the trick.
