Hi Everyone,

Paul speakin', from Somerset. Announcing that we are now delighted owners of a 2002 A2 1.4TDi SE in red, thanks to an extremely helpful and knowledgeable A2OC member chumsofmanutd. Thanks Rob for introducing us to this fun little car with a big heart, and to this forum, although we had done quite a bit of research into the A2 before deciding to go for one. We have owned a few different types of car in the past, but the last one we chose for its practicality, surprisingly lower tax bracket , comfort and economy. It was a Citroen Zsara Picasso 2.0 HDi Exclusive. The only problem I had with it was that every time I approached it, I yawned. When I drove it I felt cocooned in a limousine, it was by far the most comfortable car I have ever driven, but even inside it, I yawned! Great car, just boring, for us. Looking for an exciting and different replacement on eBay didn't help, everything seemed to be silver, green, or grey, or a 106, 206 or a Corsa, until Fizz found a silver A2 which I almost dismissed out of hand because of its colour. It was local to us, but further enqs with the owner filled in all those questions that are not answered on the item description. You know the one's, the one's sellers leave out because it somehow clashes with their 'excellent condition', 'bargain price' and 'spotless' body' description. Anyway, lots of swatting later, plus lots of what must have been annoying enquiry emails to Rob (chumsofmanutd) as he had the only red 1.4 tdi for sale which really stood out in preference to the other colours, decided our fate. Short story is we travelled across the planet to Robs place, saw it and fell in love. Now we have a car that makes us smile, enjoy every trip out in it, listening to that little 1.4tdi mini roar, accompanied by some pleasant torque, and an enjoyable, firm, but positive ride. Now its a race for who gets to the drivers seat first, which never happened with the Picasso, sadly. Our 'other' vehicle is a 1989 VW Vanagon 1.6TD left hooker Westfalia California Camper with 212,468 miles on the clock, which is our permanent holiday making machine, oh, and that's red, too! Thanks Rob, (highly recommended A2 enthusiast ) and thanks A2OC for being there for us to check out beforehand what to expect from an A2, and for helping us decide to purchase. Well that's it from us, looking forward to being part of the club. Paul & Fizz

Well done on your purchase!!! You will not go wrong and its a TDI :D
Hope you enjoy your little car for many many miles.

All the best, Mo

Ps. Defo a top forum with great enthusiasts and a ocean of knowledge on the A2s

Great story and well done on your purchase.
Perhaps we could tempt you to bring your new purchase to the social at Beaulieu in a few weeks time.

Hi Everyone,

Paul speakin', from Somerset.

Welcome to the forum. A fantastic choice of car and I'm sure it'll be a good one as Rob knows his stuff when it comes to the A2. Nice to see new members from your neck of the woods. Somerset will always remind me of much liked and respected member John ( Tourangang) who was from Wembdon not far from you and sadly lost his battle with motor neuron disease last year.

As Vonnie says, the socials organised by a2sumo and Riverlad are very welcoming and eclectic, we have people travelling from all over to attend.

Welcome once again, and enjoy a car that's pretty tough to get bored of

Oooo red !! A couple of years back I had a fleeting glimpse of a deep red A2 (Cherry Red?) which I thought looked fantastic - could yours be the same colour?

OP's not online, so can answer your Q - The car looks like amulet red in the OP's avatar and the user profile confirms this. Nice shade and not very common selection either. You see very few cherry pearlescent A2's.

So which shade may I have seen then - Amulet or Cherry red? Which of the two is the darker?

Amulet is a flat paint. Darker than brilliant red. Cherry is a deep pearlescent. Very different. Hard to say which is darker as they are completely different. If I was a betting man I'd wager that Amulet is darker.

Hi Andy B

Sorry its taken so long to reply, I guess I get used to the usual system whereby one gets an email saying you have a message on a particular site, I just haven't been back on the site for a while, too busy polishing, hehe. The colour is actually Amulet but yes, cherry red describes it well. Apparently red does have its problems in the colour world, but we are working hard to combat a few blemishes. The car is perfect, and we have been back to Rob for a full black leather seat set and a cruise control, what bliss!! Paul
