Sunday Independent article recommends an A2 petrol over a hybrid

The Sunday Independent has a small weekly column where they suggest a choice of two cars for a reader - one for the head and one for the heart.

Today's (5/10/14) reader Robin

needs to replace his old VW Polo and is thinking an electric or hybrid (he is wondering about a BMW i3), but would consider a petrol.

Article says that for a tenth of the price of a new i3 he can have an A2:

Because another glimpse into the future was the Audi A2. Here was an all-aluminium high-rise hatch with premium-car quality and excellently frugal diesel and petrol engines. It only sat four but that is all anyone needs. I think Robin should buy a 1.4 petrol model, which is easy to own. A tidy 2002 model is just £3,000.

PS just to pre-empt anyone ;), I think any reader who relies on this paper's advice needs to get off his backside and do some homework himself ;)

I'm surprised that they didn't mention the diesel variants! Interesting that all these years later, the A2 is still able to cut it! :)
