Suspect fly wheel noise

Hi guy's

i have a rustling noise coming from the drivers side where the fly wheels are located. It sounds like a moving part is very dry.

The noise sounds like it is coming from a fly wheel, so i took of the cambelt cover that is showing the engine code at the top of the engine and there is no signs of it scratching against the inside, so i am assuming it might be one of the fly wheels.

Apart from that the engine drives fine, its just very annoying having the windows down and hearing this dry rustling sound.

Does anyone know if these fly wheels need some sort of lubrication?

And if so which one's need to be lubricated, and what lubricator needs to be used???

Thanks.

What engine do you have?

"the drivers side where the fly wheels are located"

AFAIK there is only one flywheel, and it doesn't require special lube treatment, except if you have problems when engaging the starter engine.

Hi I have a 1.4 petrol engine, the noise sounds like metal rubbing against something but the car itself drives fine with no problems. does the cambelt, water pump, or other wheels have bearing that might need l lubricating

The cambelt runs on items that are not meant to be lubed, and the water pump is amongst these.

It's possible that you are hearing the alternator pulley, which are known to fail, but there's nothing inside the area that you refer to that would need oil or additional lubrication.

Mine seems to make a hiss (that sounds a little like rubbing) whenever i engage the aircon. It's surely the compressor and that could be the case for you too, seeing as our Touran has the same issue.
Try and see if you get that noise with the aircon switched off.
