Suspension/brake Mods

Read in Whatdieselcar the other day about Audi Driver magazine having fitted Koni FSD (?) struts to an A2 with excellent results. Any one on hear add to this or recommend alternative strut/inserts that improve ride/handling experience?

Also with an impending engine power uplift am a little concerned with the braking retardation. Any views on alternative pads/discs to improve stopping? Have been used to 4 pot calipers on a previous car that stopped on a sixpence, in comparison the A2 is a bit weak in the brake department.

I ams ure these topics have already been covered but as a new member its a bit difficult knowing where to search!

The subject of Koni FSD dampers has been covered (in great detail) on these pages and I have them fitted to Tank (along with Weitec springs). They are superb and much, much better than the standard, or even the sport suspension, which I used to have beofre.

Use the search tool and start reading, there's pages of the stuff!

Cheers,

Mike

Thanks again Mike for your helpful comments!

I am sure my German girlfriend will explain the sense of humour in the other post:p

Thanks darren, found the thread when searching. What I am not entirely clear about is the benefits of changing the springs, seems to be differeing opinions. The shocks seem to give a clear benefit. My priorities are to sort out performance ( hopefully this weekend), look at the brakes ( probably better pads, possibly discs) and then think about the suspension. I note someone else comments on Monroe Gas struts which have always been my 'default' fitment on cars in the past. Anyone have any views on those? ( and yes I will also search.....)

I find the brakes on my A2 are second to none mate I would get your pad's checked for wear.

i think the brakes are rather poor too comparing to other cars i've had access to recently, a 2.0 renault scenic and a volvo v70 t5.

You do need to have your brakes checked out if you think they are poor, as standard A2 brakes are very good as standard, they have so little weight to stop in the first place that they can be a little too powerful.

Cheers,

Mike

had new front discs and pads around 400m ago, has passed its 2nd MOT last week.
i dont think there is anything wrong with them, just poor in comparison to the scenic with its 280mm discs on front (unsure of back size) and the T5 with tis 302mm on front and 280 on the rear. the audi weighs 1030kg, the scenic 1290kg and the t5 1415kg, so not *that* much lighter really.
