Takes 4 miles for heater to work! Normal?

The heater on the A2 takes ages to start working compared with my volvo V40. The volvo is fully up to temp in less than two miles and the heater produces warm air in less than a mile after setting off. The ickle A2 takes approx 2 to 3 miles to start giving warmth.
Before I start checking for stuck open thermostats, what is everyone elses experience?

If it is the thermostat, are they easy to get at on the A2 1.6?

Ta.

To be honest it depends on the kind of miles driven,
If I get on the motorway near me and blat down that for approx 1.5miles then the heater is all ready warming up,
However if its stop start traffic then it takes a good few miles and longer in time to warm up.
This is my experience with mine (1.4 petrol though)

Don't know if that helps though.

It takes my 1.6fsi a while also, I wouldn't worry too much about it .. just wear more layers when you first get it ;-)

have been wearing more layers, but the lure of the volvo with its near instant heat and electric butt warmers has been too aluring over the Chrimble period. Glad to hear it is normal though.

I've got heated seats in my A2 so don't really notice how long it takes the heater to warm up. I just turn on the engine and heated seat, put my bags in the boot and when I get back in I am as warm as I could hope to be.

Question: Do you have the heating in economy mode? If you do, switch it off and in cold weather an electric auxillary heater will help the heater. It is not very good but it helps, especially in windsrceen demist mode.
Myself, I switch the heater off for the first few miles and use the seat heaters unless I need to clear the windscreen.
