Tandem Diesel pump: Replace or repair?

Yes listen to @audifan on this and definitely not me! I did get my wires crossed, I assumed you wanted the metal gasket, but after reading your post again I realised you need the seal kit for the pump itself. Here is a link another member helped me with that has tandem pump seal kits. They seemed very happy with this solution, personally I would always replace the whole thing but the mileage after using the seal kit speaks for itself…..

I fit one of the seal kits from that supplier. Worked for a while but it wasn't long before it was leaking diesel again (another set of cooling pipes needed) and the main metal gasket had no silicone blobs. Spent months chasing a difficult to find oil leak.
Fit a Bosch pump with an Audi gasket; problems solved.

I would want to check out the crank sensor before investing in a pump. Especially if the starting issue is a warm starting issue. If it's only cold start the perhaps it is the pump.
If so replace with Bosch, if a Bosch fits your engine.
It's not leaking diesel so perhaps a seal kit would work, this is what is involved https://www.a2oc.net/community/inde...uk-038145209e-tandem-fuel-pump-rebuild.31924/
I though would probably still go for a pump if the car is a keeper.

OK ATL engine is not suitable for the Bosch pump as is. You need an additional spacer to locate the ASV further away from the EGR to allow space for the thicker Bosch pump. This part will need to be modified to correct the angles and length or perhaps obtain a 3d printed item. The LUK pump is a direct fit for your engine although not as good as the Bosch tandem.

I would see what availability / cost is for both pumps then add in the cost of a modified extra spacer for the Bosch pump. The quicker option will probably be a LUK tandem.

Yeah, i think the LUK pump is the way to go, just need to find a decent supplier who can get 1. My local factor only lists the Bosch pump, so need to do some searching!

Is there anyone that sells the required ‘spacer’ that the Bosch item needs? Im struggling to find the LUK item, but the Bosch i can get. Id also like to fit the better Bosch item if i can.
