TDI injectors lifespan?

Hello everybody!

I'm asking because my car started smoking on acceleration not long ago.
I've read somewhere that injectors start to deteriorate around 200-250k miles aaand my car has done 200.
Top end has been done a few yrs ago(head machining, new lifters, headgasket), turbo is fine (replaced, now @ ~80k), no boost leaks, exhaust ok (decatted), VCDS injection quantity deviation numbers are not bad... Compression test hasn't been done, but it starts fine at winter temps.
How's your experience, how many miles on factory injectors, any noticeable increase in smoke on higher mileage cars?

Cheers,
Neo

All TDI’s smoke on hard accelaration.. but smoke should not be visible from mirrors, only if you drive behind in another car

had a 1.4 tdi at 285K miles, no smoke, and returned 60 + MPG, so I don't think injectors are anything to worry about
could depend on quality of diesel that has been used as quality fuels have detergent in them and super market fuels dont

worth running some liqui moli diesel purge though them
Its great stuff

My 340k miler seems fine and I’m sure it hasn’t been changed.

Have you tried changing the oil? I was sending out vast amounts of smoke, people were swearing at me. I changed the oil and the problem is solved.

Hello Neo

I'm having 270 thousand km's ATL, no problems. What colour is coming out? Blue or black? White? Is the running at idle smooth and "equal" as it should be? Have you cheked the camshaft? I don't know how often in these R3 pd engines fail with camshaft, but certain R4 pd's does that. Especially when wrong or cheap oil has been used. Can you load a video to the forum at idle or something? Does it run smooth and strong when you accelerate hard? Does it have normal amount of power under that run?

Try for first aid Depronman's adviced Ligui Moly or Forte "diesel injection celaner". Don't use cheap ones. To have a proper affect put a whole bottle to small amount of fuel. So use it when you have a little of fuel.

I know its pretty basic but clogged air filter can cause smoke on acceleration. When was the air filter last changed?

I bet a pint that all A2 TDI smokes when floored due to the lack of DPF. Take another car and drive behind your own TDI when someone floors it.
