TDi75 coolant leak - advice please

Ordered and the recommendations bookmarked.

String or thread on clip noted! That would be an utter pain! I’ve dropped a socket set before and that was bad enough...

Not a lot of fun if you drop a socket inside somewhere!
Worst for me (35 years ago) was adjusting the inboard front discs on my Alfasud using a small (7mm) socket on long extensions. Completed the adjustment and as I withdrew the tools the socket fell off. Couldn't find it and feared the worst. Crossed fingers and tried turning the engine by hand - locked up! - it had dropped inside the clutch housing.
Much cursing and with the car jacked up and peering inside the housing from underneath with a torch I spotted it wedged between the flywheel & housing. Finally managed to extract it by passing a wire up from underneath, through the hole in the socket and then retrieved it on the wire by pulling it up through hole for the clutch actuator arm (where it had dropped in).

Missed the show....

Hopefully you are now leak free. Audi must have held a competition for their engineers to fit the temp sensor in the most awkward position they could find. :(

Still ok Alex?

"My garage" - the fraudulent one - put a green sensor where the blue one should have went so the engine only got to temperature on a hot day!

The guy was a complete chancer didn't have a clue what day it was never mind a mechanic

You would be surprised just how many "professional" garages fit the same sensor in both locations, usually forcing the plug on.

Currently still okay. If it is leaking it’s much slower and I can’t really see it.

I filled it and drove it a couple of hundred miles and it was on the minimum line but that could just be that it had some bubbles in it. Will check it again in a week or so and see where the level is now.

Still carrying a bottle of premixed pink since I’m a worrier.
