Temperature of dashboard doesn't move from 60 degrees.

Hello! I own Audi A2 1.4 tdi 75h.p AMF engine manifactured 18.12.2001. It is Left handed and It has clima control (climatronic), heating of the seats, sky roof (not working) and webasto (it tries to start but it only goes with white smoke and stops, i'll look at it after i manage this problem).
My problem is that from february 2021 my temperature meter in the dashboard doesnt move from 60 degrees.
I have changed (in a service) the thermostat in 2019 (because my temperature meter in the dashboard in the winter was showing that the car doesnt heat, for 10-15 km trip it went to maximum 70 degrees) and after the change the dashboard was working but very, very slowly the temperature went to 80-90 degrees. And after some time the dashboard stopped working again.
Just for information i had a leaking heating radiator for the heating system, and my feet and pasenger's were wet, so i changed the mini radiator in a service in 2019 i think.
So I went (Before 1 week) to a service and when they "read" the car, it said that the sensor of the temperature of the cooling liquid of the engine( the 4 pin one) is the problem ( i have picture of the screen with the mistakes and i'll post it. The № is 17664 and it says that the sensor is interupted). The second thing is №18043 -CAN, something about my AC/engine..
So we changed the sensor and the dashboard is still not working. It remains only on 60 degrees. The computer says that evrything is normal, at 83 degrees my thermostat opens and the car goes to 90 degrees, but the dashboard is not responding.
I have read some threads in this wonderful forum, and i have noticed that my fin on the radiator doesn't turn on. It doesn't turn on even if i turn on the AC with the econ button. When i try to turn it by hand it's turning fine, no problem in that. I looked for corrosion in the connection ot the top of the radiator and they are fine. I checked the wiring just by looking the main strap and it seems in good condition until it enters the car. I checked the fuses in the main box and they are good. I only haven't checked some fuses that i read in this forum somewhere over the main fuse box, but i didn't understand where are they.
Sorry for the long post!
I will be very greatful for your help!
Veselin

Your coolant temperature sensor is faulty and needs to be replaced. Get a good OEM one and and some correct coolant to top up the fluid that you lose.

I would check the fan, by unplugging it, and connecting 12 volts directly to it. It should spin when AC is on, whatever the engine temperature. I think the fan fault is not related to the temperature sensor or gauge (in the dash).
If you can find someone with a licensed copy of VCDS, you can test the dash:
Mac.

Hello @audifan ! My new sensor is BERU ST 119 and they told me that it's one of the good sensors. Do you think that it can be faulty after buying brand new sensor? Is it good OEM? And if its not can you please give me some info about whitch one should i buy?
Do you think that the problem may be in the dash gauge for temperature? If i elimante the sensor as a reason what else could it be?
Thank you!
Veselin

Hi Veselin,
Beru sensor ok but if you have a VAG dealer nearby suggest getting one from them. Yes the sensor could be faulty or the wiring / plug could be faulty.
Have your car scanned with VCDS and have the person show you the two temperatures coming from the sensor. If one is different then the sensor or wiring is faulty. If both about the same pointing to a gauge / dash issue. One circuit from the sensor feeds the ECU and the other the dash gauge. That is why there are 4 pins in the sensor, 2 for each channel.

@audifan Is it possible to check the sensor, out of the car, using a pot of boiling water and a multimeter?

@PlasticMac
In theory yes you could test it in a similar way to thermostats. BUT great care is needed especially at the higher temperatures and you do not want to get water into the connector. Difficulty is knowing what sort of resistance equates to the temperatures, but that is not really the issue. What you want to see is both sides giving a very similar reading through out the temperature range.
My concern is it could be the gauge G2 channel that has a faulty earth or broken lead to the dash. Although the G62 may also be faulty.

I will find a way to scann the car and see what the both sides are giving.
@PlasticMac Unfortunatly i gave 12v to the fan and it didnt spin... So i guess that the problem is in the fan and i am reading now how to solve that also. Thank you for the advice!
When i scan the car i will update what have i found. Thank you.
