My A2 is full of water in the boot round the battery from a dent on the back left just above the rear light can this be a quick (cheap) fix or is it a garage job

Ouch !! That’s defo a garage job and it being aliminum your going to struggle to find someone with the skill to fix that..

If you phoned your insurance they will right it off for damage in that area and the value of the car.

That's a real shame, sadly as Boxy has said, that looks like a write-off.
Time to salvage what you can from it and look for another A2...

What a blooming shame sorry ..that’s about the only down side of the a2 not many alloy specialist repairers being honest it’s not any different for anyone good with hammer and block and tig welding ...☹

Yea I'm gutted thankfully I haven't paid for it yet and the people I got it from are taking it back but we are good friends I wanted to make sure before they tryed to get it fixed I'll tell them to scrap it ?

To be honest though @Pelican , I would guess that any 15-20 year old hatchback (ie a Polo or Fabia of the same era) with similarly crumpled rear 3/4 like that would be a write off to insurers owing to the labour costs needed to fix it (if being paid for by insurance rather than a home repair), it's not just an A2. Even the very best A2s are £3000-5000 with some optimism from the seller ; most of our cars here are probably £800 to £2000 at best. What is the market price of a Polo or Fabia of the same era and mileage - probably about the same money at most if utterly mint, and >£50 / hr talks very quickly when you've got to strip it down, get the parts, fit them and so on.
