So the A2 TDi was the quietest, had the 2nd best ride (although they criticise it in the summary!), the best fuel economy, the most luggage space, was the most versatile and most practical.

That makes it sound very quiet doesn't it. Don't forget that an increase of 3dB represents a perceived doubling of actual volume!

Looks like they may have got the depreciation figure wrong, half its value lost in 3 years?

Well, that was from new back in 2001 when fuel was (relatively) cheap. Keep in mind that the depreciation would just have been an estimate too.
 
I must admit that I wasn't aware that 3db= a subjective doubling of volume. Thanks for pointing that out! :)
 
If low mileage TDIs didn't have a generally known reason to be relatively dear before this article, they do now! :)
