I read this when it was first published in 2017, and a lot of it is still relevant ... I particularly loved the quote ...

"There are also a lot of diesels, or cars without air-conditioning, or ones with the “Open Sky” panoramic sunroof that can cost a four-figure sum to replace if it goes wrong. As a result, no sooner does a really good A2 in the right spec come up for sale than it has disappeared."

Unfortunately for the journo writing it, his dreams of appreciation rather than depreciation probably didn't (haven't yet) come true - just imagine what you can get for £3,000 - £5,000 budget in A2 terms these days ...
