The Cobalt dream machine.

The other thing i noticed which was another clever touch is when you activate Cruise Control it functions as normal but when you want to accelerate, the car will accelerate but will just return to the previously selected setting if you drop your speed

My cruise-control does this anyway?
Still looking forward to the upgrade, though ....

I hope your reading this Tom as i've discovered 2 pleasant surprises as a consequence of this colour diss upgrade... I noticed movement in the passenger door mirror. Later on i tried to see if it would do it again, and sure enough when the revers gear is engaged the passenger door mirror drops down to assist in parking. As soon as you disengage the mirror goes back to it's original position. Very nice i thought and unless i missed something didn't realise this was part pf the package.

Hi Mark (and others),

I've given so many introductions to Colour DIS over the last few days and it seems that I forgot to mention the mirror feature to you. Oops!
As you've noticed, the passenger side mirror dips down when you engage reverse such that you can see the kerb. However, this only happens if the mirror control knob (by the electric window switches on the driver's door) is set to the passenger side. So, if you wish to reverse out of your drive or are reversing in an open space, simply keep the mirror control knob in the straight position. If you wish the mirror to dip (when parallel parking, for instance), set the control knob to the passenger side.
If you don't like this feature and wish to disable it completely, you'll find it in the settings menu.

As DJ190 mention, the cruise control feature you describe is standard, whether you have Colour DIS or not. The only way in which Colour DIS enhances cruise control is that it displays the set cruising speed.

I'm delighted that you're so pleased with the upgrade.

Cheers,

Tom

No worries Tom,look forward to seeing you soon.

Just for you Darren.............:p

If the settings are the same as on other Audi cars, then the temptation to leave it in the passenger side mode is strong, but if you have heated mirrors, then the button usually need to be in the "middle" position to work.

Anyone got that combo yet?

I am pretty sure that on the A2 the only thing that controls the heated mirrors is having the rear screen heater on.
it might be that by coincidence I have always had them in the centre position. But that would be a huge coincidence.

If someone with heated mirrors could try this please. Just to confirm, one way or another? But I think our A2s heat the mirrors in any position?? Happy to be wrong as ever.

This is correct. As such, there's no conflict between heated mirrors and the 'mirror dip' reversing function. :)

Cheers,

Tom

I'm pretty sure ours is heating the mirrors regardless of position Steve and as Tom has said there's no conflict going on so we can all breath out.........

I recently fitted a drivers side heated mirror glass, and with rear heated screen on and temp below 5, it didn't work.
I assumed it was plug and play, as some past threads have suggested.
Does it need "activating" to work?
Thanks
Steve

Hi Steve,

do you have Air Conditioning with Climate Control or the Manual Dial heating controls?
It has been seen before that a car with manual heating was set up as having Air Conditioning. This meant that the mirror heaters don't turn on as with A/C the heater button is on the Climate Control unit where as without it isn't.

Measuring blocks 13 on the CCU indicates when the mirror heating is turned on. You should see this change when you turn on and off the window heating. If it doesn't change and you have manual heating, check that the CCU is set up in Adaption correctly for manual heating as if it thinks the car has A/C the heated mirrors won't turn on.

Andrew

All that other stuff you said about CCU and wot not, over my head!!!

Hi Steve,

I'm currently working at a recording studio in Leicester and will be for the next 10 days to 2 weeks. I'll be at Sciroccorrado's place in Syston this coming weekend. I've got a lot of my A2 kit with me, so if you're free to pop over, I can help out.

Cheers,

Tom

PS: You once mentioned having cruise control fitted. Is that still something you'd like?

PPS: Mark, apologies that your project thread has been hijacked!

Lol no worries, over on Classic Audi thread drift with humour makes Jack less of a dull boy! We're famous for it. :)

I was thinking of whether to ask for the whole series of posts to be moved to it's own post :)

Back on track - The ColourDIS looks great :) I'm sure there will be more discoveries as people delve into the hidden depths of the display options.

Hi folks, sorry for the diversion!!!!

Tom - thanks for the offer. Will check with the wife regarding plans for the weekend. Will PM you later.
regards
Steve

I'd like to say a massive thank you to 2 superb gentleman,Tom (Timmus) and Rob from (Wom Automotive) if i have that right. You have made us very happy bunnies supplying the twist false floor sides and floor itself. Many many thanks chaps!! Great to meet you to Rob for the first time even if it was one of those dodgy late night car park jobs.Lol.

Now looking forward to Tom fitting it at some point, no point in me doing this when Tom is such an expert!

As a thread was put up Plans for 2018 here goes.........

- Do an engine flush and oil change/service etc now.
- Hope above sorts out the slight tapping noise on cold idle (piston slap/tappet noise)
- Fit the brand new twist boot floor carpet.
- Fit the false floor sides, brackets etc and repair the false floor. Or find another?
- Fit the brand new twist rear cup holders.
- Get the whole front repainted as well as back bumper and arches.
- Fit the new alloy rear bumper trim and plastic closer trim.
- Once painted fit the new mudguards.
- Keep searching for mint soft touch climate controls.
- When above found fit the new light switch and electric window switches.
- Source either genuine twist mats or nice after market ones.
- Source an excellent binnacle cover and drivers under dash trim or repair fixing tabs.
- Sort out a hands free/music listening interface another job for Tom so at least 3 now.

Reference pick was taken from a thread that Rob from WOM posted up when selling a car for a customer well over a year ago now.

Even though these mats aren't original i like the look of these a lot!

If anyone knows where these were obtained i'd love to know?

Cant believe it's been 2 years since we've started Cobalt Blue.

Cobalt's been on my mind lately so a few weeks back put 10 litres of fresh 99 Tesco momentum in to give it a chance to fire up as there was a small amount of old fuel in there. Started straight away but ran rough for 10 seconds or so which was to be expected but still heart stopping considering the New Audi coils spark plugs etc. Thankfully it smoothed out perfectly with some light revs and must have been the old fuel before the fresh stuff came through. This was all a bit exciting so left the engine running for over an hour and everything worked as if it were only layed up the day before, big result. Sure was a lovely feeling having her running again. Sorted out the usual remote locking needing re - synchronising and it all worked perfectly. Haven't dared try the roof yet but i have a plan for that to avoid aggravating anything after it's long lay up.

The plan is to get Cobalt mot'd again and to just drive it but theres quite a lot to do before hand. The rear brakes on this were always a bit...., handbrake near useless and in dire need of new shoes etc etc. I'm not going to waste any money rebuilding the drums but instead going for a Disc brake conversion to which i've already obtained an FSI rear axle, callipers, handbrake cables and new Febi body mounts etc.

I'm going to change the black breather box part of the engine breathing system in the hope ours is gunked up - hence the stupid oil consumption these can suffer with and we were getting. So with these items done fresh oil and filter i'm hoping for an easy pass. ?

I'm in need of the following if anyone can help?

Need to obtain borrow or buy the rear axle mount bush pullers so i can replace them but which one?

Need 3 good Bose tweeters as they were robbed for Pine Green's Bose instal. Appreciate thats not an easy task as usually whole sets come up for sale. Happy to hear of a complete set if thats all that is available? Such a shame Audi only had the one tweeter when i asked for Pine Green.

Thats it for now cheers.
