The Green Goddess

Looking
Cheers Steve, i'm very very tempted!!

Either way i want her fully sorted for the new owner or i can see us with the bonus of extended ownership until .............? Big dilemma, where's the crying symbol when you need it?

She's going in for some work this Thursday for a new lower inlet manifold i bought from Crew Audi and a new Bosch injector in time for the Welsh run. She has developed a slight misfire on no3, sparks plugs and coils swapped around to diagnose. It's a very low one only registering 17 on the misfire count, which would normaly be in the 300 range but i know it's there. Plus something about a fuel pressure valve regulator open circuit needs diagnosing? Gary will advise Friday with any luck.
Looking forward to seeing it in Wales. It's my favourite colour combo...apart from ipanema :)

So following on from post 19 the car has been with our mechanic for some major work yesterday. Hopefully getting the car back Monday just waiting on a new EGR pipe from Audi as that's just started to go. Going to change the gearbox oil ( why not always a good idea ) and check the air filter and change at the same time. Although oil is new i don't know what?, so going to put fresh high quality Millers longlife Nanodrive in. Car already has high quality iridium platinum Denso plugs so fingers crossed, an mot booked next week, she should be completely ready for the Welsh run.

So after changing for a brand new lower inlet manifold and injector 4 and new seals for the other injectors, as your in there, the report back this morning after running it yesterday and a good run out this morning the cars running very well indeed with no fault codes and no engine light! The fuel pressure valve regulator "open circuit" turned out to be it wasn't plugged in so the garage that changed No 3 injector a few years ago obviously missed that tut tut, so happy that was an easy fix. So it looks we have a perfect running fsi to enjoy with more power than before and superb fuel consumption, can't wait! :)

Just got the car back and she's a different car now, all verrrrry smooth and quiet and punchy even low down.

So she's had.......

New Audi lower inlet manifold ( houses flaps ) and gaskets which was nice but a little on the ouch side Lol.
New Bosch injectors seals from Audi for the cylinders 1 and 2, cylinder 3 already had a new Bosch injector.
New gen Bosch Injector for No 4 cyl@ £98 so not bad all things considered.
New Audi egr pipe and gaskets, silly price for what it is!
1.9 litres of honey drizzled into the gearbox, that makes a difference, ie; Fuch Titan Sintofuid fe GL4 spec.
Fresh Millers Nanodrive full synthetic longlife oil.
New Mann air filter, the old one was quite clean which came as a pleasant surprise!
New Audi oil filter.

To say i'm pleased at how this has turned out is some way short of how the car is really making me feel.
So,.....very much looking forward to the Welsh tour, even more so now that the car is running perfectly.
See you all on the tour. :)

We've covered just over 410 miles on a tank in the last week on Holiday in Dorset, that included some spirited driving after driving down there like a nun (65mph) when the memory twigged at Ringwood that we hadn't turned of the immersion heater off! Thats another story one that involves useless plumbers, don't ask! So back home to Rickmansworth and do the journey all over a again, i was not amused! Our overall average was 42.1mpg before i reset the computer at the start of the journey to prove that it will do well over 500 miles on a tank. That test will have to wait a little while longer now.?

Thankfully grumbles can't be said of this Pine Green beauty she continues to amaze me and it's a real joy to drive when i get the chance.

As i usually do i spent more than a few hours here and there over 2 days to polish the car further to the point where i'm starting to get happy with the finish, it's certainly an improvement over Kimbolton. This time i used Ag Super resin polish followed by new to me anyway Ag High Definition wax. Gave the wheels a good clean and polish too.
