The Latest Milestone

Here's the thing: last Thursday saw me on a little evening jaunt to capture this moment:

50746

The car was serviced a couple of weeks ago: it was the cheapest I've had for a very long time. But that was because they didn't do several things that I'd asked them to.
The reason they didn't do these jobs was because all of the bolts on things that haven't been moved for sixteen years have rusted up, and as soon as someone tries to remove them the heads snap off.

So the cabin air intake duct is staying cracked, and the headlights are effectively rusted into place. That's all well and good, but I fear that soon, something will break that is important, and can't be fixed without taking the car off the road and effectively having to rebuild it.

No changing the cabin air duct is more a case of they didn't want to rather than they couldn't. The 2 screws that are under the scuttle panel may well be rusted, but they are easily removed and replaced. I highly doubt the bolts holding it in on the bulkhead were corroded (I've yet to see an A2 that has).

It's common for the lower headlight bolt to be corroded into place but any garage worth their salt is more than capable of drilling it out.

Don't lose hope, there are plenty of garages able to do that work.

To be fair to them, they have kept me on the road for the last 200,000 miles, but they are not A2 experts, and TBH, I'd rather they didn't do a job than try and then c**k it up.

Yes I can understand that , I’d just get some wd40 type product on the bolts & let it soak for a few days should sort them.

Keith.
