Wow! It looks EXACTLY like the concept car down to the funny triangular rear exhaust pipe outlets! I think it looks great.

Just the dash I'm not so sure about!? Looks like they just randomly placed everything there! Hmmm... and a digital speedo? And why is the clock typeface so massive?!!

BUT the best news of all is that the excellent 2,2 diesel engine WILL BE part of the range from the start!!! What a cracking car that will be!

The Civic website went live today... so go to www.honda.co.uk to see it. VERY clever car. The interior has really grown on me have to say. And it has the exact same rear seat mechanism as the Jazz. Down to being able to flip the seat bases UP to fit tall things in from the rear passenger floor to the roof. The clincher for me is that you can get it with a full width glass sunroof!!!!!!!!!!!!

And of course 0-60 in the 2,2 diesel is 8,4 seconds according to Test Drive magazine!!!

This car is definately on my list. Maybe even a worthy heir of the CRX look, feel and community.
I just wonder how long it will take for me to ever use that list... :(

Thanks for keeping us all up to date, Johann. You're a better source of this type of news then anything else. (and it shows that I read A2OC far more regular than the news sites!)

Pleasure Swiv I love cars so this is not a chore! LOL

I really like this car. It is the first car I really feel I can replace the A2 with. Like the A2 it just "looks" designed. Everything in the world is designed I know, but this says designer all over it! And since I AM a designer this car just shouts ME! LOL But I also like practical cars and this Civic certainly ticks all those boxes as well...

Now I just hope they bring out a 2,2 diesel Automatic...

...and this article confirmed my suspicions:

The fuel tank is under the front seats! Hence all the space under the rear seats just like in the Jazz. Clever!

With an interior like that, who wants to look outside?!

Phil. TDi Sport, silver, with Climate and OpenSky.

Hehehe I agree... If gran comes over to sightsee with me in this car we'll rent an MPV! This is a coupe that happens to have 2 rear doors and acres of rear space! hehehe I read somewhere that the exterior designer had the rear windows even smaller than this!!! The interior designer had to fight hard to get that line pushed back to where it is now! And I agree: the only view rear seat passengers will have is slightly forward and nothing to the side!!! hehehe But I as driver don't give a diddly squat if I can drive a beast like this!!! The VERY restrictive rear view and split rear screen will feel right normal to an A2 driver anyways!

Have you ever sat in the back of the current Primera?

The only way you can see out of the side window is to lean forwards, and that is supposed to be a much bigger car, bet children get car sick in them!

A friend of mine actually has a new Primera, but I have never been in the back with him... so don't know! I don't have children so the claustrophobia in the the back of the Civic won't bother me! hehehe

You already have the 2,2 Honda diesel. What is it like? Any good? I heard it is nearly as quiet as a petrol engine and as smooth? Must be a low stressed engine too as it only has the same power output as VW's 2,0 TDi even though it is 200cc bigger.

Having driven the VAG 2.0 TDI (140) and 1.9 TDI (110) in the last two weeks the Honda is much quieter and with the windows closed is only just noticable at idle when cold and not at all when moving.

Compression ratio is low (18 point something) where most diesels are 19-20 so it is fairly gently stressed - but one way of looking at that is it gives the chippers more room for manoeuvre since they can up the boost more. Havn't looked to see what is available yet but wouln't be surprised to see 250-300 bhp with a bigger turbo but then it would probably make a bit more noise.

It is not quite as frugal as the VAG unit with some drivers reporting low 40s, but then if you rev it hard all the time it will use more fuel. At least the CO2 figure is low for the BIK.

The best advice I can give is to go and have a test drive in an Accord or a CRV - the engine sells itself! Only problem I can see in the new Civic is the ammount of time the traction control would operate trying to put 340Nm down - 50% MORE than the 2.4V6 petrol!
