The quest for more power, what to do?

One question to think about: What about dropping a 1.9TDI in there (has been done before a couple of times).
Either a 130PS (cheap to get) or 160PS if you are lucky.

The first one can be mapped to about 150PS and the latter to bout 190PS along with plenty, plenty of torque.

Result: An absurd fast A2 with great mpg

I would love to. Its good to hear that it actually fits into the space between the chassis legs. Did the guys use the 130 gearbox as well I.e 6 speed.

Are you aware of what compatibility issues they had? Driveshafts, ecu, exhaust etc etc

I've been having a good look over the turbo setup on the tdi engine I've just removed from my breaker.

First impression, wow what a small turbo.

Quick question. Is the standard exhaust manifold no good for a larger turbo? I.e is the mounting point a different size or maybe not a 3 bolt flange?


sorry man i dont check the forums much.. revisitng this thread.. iv got more of a bug about my a2 now i have it back on the road..


with the vnt turbos uv been looking at.. the hotside of the turbo is built into the exhuast flange so its one complete unit..

ud need that.. but its not a problem those turbos are very common on the 1.9tdi coming on every generic vag brand..

great some other guys are into this.. this conversion has been transfixed on my mind for some time now.. id want to use the BKD 2.0 with the Alloy 16 valve head..

the last guy that did the 1.9tdi convo used an ibiza fr donor car with mq350 6 speed box, aparently everything married up pretty much bang on...

i want to do this conversion at some point in the future, i think i could do it myself..
