The tour of Wales 2018

Still no love for Snowdonia? Made a couple of enquiries a few years back regards a social in Snowdonia but to no avail... you want driving roads and scenery, head North!
Great job organising all this though, takes a lot effort I should imagine.

South Wales was this year, mid and west next year so we are heading in the right direction :)

thats a very good point Jeremy as last year I did say a2oc would attend your show.

I certainly wouldn't want to conflict with any other social event as that would simply defeat the point.

I did check the calendar before suggesting dates but couldn't see anything booked in.

That makes the early bank holiday a no no then.

Steve, that Would be because next years events won't go into the calendar until the start of next year once the dates of shows are finalised. We have some but waitin on a few confirmations. Then we would post as we have the last couple of years the list of events as well for people's diaries.

Makes perfecr sense, but due to this event being held over a bank holiday with the nights stay being at a seaside location the rooms available are already being booked up. I couldn't delay until next year to suggest dates because there would be no availability.

Isn't great that our members can work together so easily?! ;) not to mention it's for the benefit of all!

UPDATE

The date is now confirmed as Saturday 26th May 2018 and Sunday 27th May 2018.

The loose plan looks like this

Day 1
- Meet at Nant Ddu lodge near Brecon
- Drive 45 minutes then a break
- Drive to Lampeter
- Drive some more and take a 2 hour lunch break
- Drive another 45 minutes and another break
- Another 45 minutes and then arrive at
- Overnight stay Aberystwyth seafront

Day 2
- Drive down west coast via Aberaeron/Newquay/St Davids and Newgale.
- Stop offs will be made along the way at each coastal town.
- Spot of lunch
- Welcome to head back south for better link roads or stay another night (which is what i'll be doing)

Day 3
- Those that are left, go our seperate ways.

***I would advise that if you wish to take part in this event that you reserve a room close to the seafront Aberystwyth as soon as you can for the night of 26th May. Rooms are already filling up bevause it's a popular resort****

There are 2 things that everyone taking part must have:

- access to a satnav unit, and
- a phone that can access whatsapp

More details ro follow in time.

Thank you for a great response so far.

Can I ask for opinions on whether this matches peoples expectations and whether you are happy with the plans.

I don't want to make the event too large if it puts people off.

Thanks

It's a shame that we won't be able to make this next year either due to prior arrangements.
We have a family party that weekend and as it's for my Mum's 75th not something we can skip.

Personally, SPOT ON, dear chap. Sounds fabulous and looks idyllic. Sea front will appeal to me, Di and the kids as much as the fabulous scenery and great company.

If we are blessed with the weather again, this will add to what will be another memorable event.

Without causing you undue extra work, is it possible to provide a couple of options for staying on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday? I only ask as it would be nice if we could all be relatively close to hand or better still be located at the same place.

Thanks again for all the planning and effort going into this Steve and Sam, extended to Mike and Yvonne, Hilary, Mr Broons and Murdo respectively for a fabulous social scene. Apologies to anyone I have missed.

Cheers,

Darren

Thanks for that Darren, just what I needed to hear.

In terms of the overnight stays, the starting point on the saturday will be the Nant Ddu which is where we had lunch this year so The Travelodge where everyone stayed this year would probably be the cheapest option for the friday night for those travelling down the night before.

The first overnight stay of the tour (saturday night) will then be on the Aberystwyth seafront. There is a 1/2 mile strip along the seafront thats bursting with hotels and no matter which one you stay at we will all be within half a mole of each other. I thought that eveyone could meet up then for an evening meal in one of the pubs. This location won't change and is set (mainlh because I've now booked accomodation) so feel free to reserve a place whenever you want.

The second night of the journey (sunday night) is less set in stone, is optional and will very much depend on when people want to head home and how far they have to travel. Some may want to head home on day 2 I.e the sunday or stay on for the second night at one of the final coastal towns that we stop at.

Oh what beauty is Wales, and Scotland, can't see much like that round our way, just a concrete jungle here!

You seem to have fallen for Wales Sarge. Plenty of lovely houses down here at very reasomable prices. Imagine if the two parts guys lived close together and what we could achieve :)

All looks fab Steve. We'll need to confer about accommodation as it's plus point to the social if we're all within meeting distance of each other for meals and some good chat.

Definately. You literally can't go wrong with the accomodation on Aberystwyth seafront. As long as you are on the seafront you are within walking distance of each other and we can all meet up for food.

I'll have to think harder on the second night but will know within the next week or so.
