The very sad demise, OOS and NLA at Audi Tradition....

We have hit a point today where the fuel button at AT has now gone OOS/NLA.

When members requested it, it was showing but I have just tried to order them. I started with the 8 needed, then went to 7 and so on.... down to 1 and it still wouldn't complete my order so I had to delete the item from teh list. All those wanting these buttons, sorry but I couldn't order.

What next? 3d print? Repair? Bit of string through the rear grill?

Edit: Just tried a separate order for these and although showing, it goes through to unavailable so, as they say on Dragons Den... for this one, I'm Ooot.
 
No doubt the eBay price for used units will respond! The micro switch on my drivers door is intermittent. So my fuel switch does not get used!
 
Is there something the community can do as a whole to resolve this?
Every A2 I have ever been in has had or about to have a failing unit...
 
Has anyone tried a Mk4 golf switch or similar? I know the profile will be a bit different, more wondering if they are functional and the connector fits.

Surely a 3d printed faceplate can be made that clips in place, we could then just wire a simple switch into it. The switch mech will be the same on all vag buttons it's the shape of housing we need to copy.
 
Could anyone measure the current that the solenoid draws, when the button is pressed?
I'd do it, but sadly, (and painfully), caught my index finger in the driver's door yesterday.
