Thermostat replacent

Hi

i had the Temp sender unit replaced and for a few months the temp gauge was always on half...now its usually below half and varies alot
im assuming it cant be the sender again could it be the thermostat?

how much does the thermostat cost and where is it located?
im having my timing belt fitted again should i also replace thermostat?

Hi Adrenaline
It could be either.
A thermostat is about the same price as a temp sender. If you are having the timing belt done it would be an ideal time to have the thermostat replaced, particularly if you also change the water pump (recommended) It should cost very little in extra labour as the coolant needs draining and the belt and alternator removed for access - which are all part of the cam belt and water pump job.
For info the thermostat housing is below the alternator - see post 9 in the attached link for more details - http://www.a2oc.net/forum/showthread.php?t=3208&highlight=thermostat
