Things you hate about your A2

4. Garages who don't know what a jacking point is:mad:

Being the over cautious person I am, I spend time with the mechanic showing how to jack the car up! They must think I'm mad:D

But to add to your list;

5. Tyre fitters who think ever car should have its tyre inflated to 45psi!! This can really catch you out! Though it is very quiet with both fronts set at ~40psi!

I really dislike the lack of rubber seals to prevent dirt and water from finding it's way behind the doors and the surfaces behind them. A proper rubber seal at the bottom of the doors should at least have been fitted.

Hate is a little strong... But these were a little bit of an eye opener especially after having had my Honda for 6+ years which was effectively a prototype..

Badly designed injection moulded plastics or plastics used where metal should have been used...

So far the list within 1 week is:

Dip stick end is missing..
Fusebox cover
Opensky parts (front pegs both have cracks on them)
Wheel centre caps (two were broken and stuck on with sealant!)

Road and wind noise compared to my Honda Insight (it will not be my car so this isn't an issue)
Engine noise the 4 cylinder is a little droney at 70 mph ish...

Great car other than that and slight neglect frm previous family used vehicle.

Not sure if it has been mentioned,
* The button to open the fuel flap location, I keep hitting it when I exit the car
* Soft soft switched on all the VW group vehicle of this age - really bad idea

It's general ride and rattles. I have no idea if the "crashy" nature over UK roads is normal in an A2. I've asked people before but with no reply.

I'd advise some pepperpots, totally transformed my car when I swapped them for a set of the SE 17 inch wheels.

Absolutely. The worst is in a tight parking space: Squeeze into the car, activate button with backside on the way down, get out to re-close fuel flap, squeeze in, activate with backside again, repeat...

I'd also like to moan about the lack of 6th gear in the TDIs and FSIs - baffling in a car supposed to maximise economy. The FSI is actually less economical at 70 mph than the 1.4 as the gearing means it's no longer in lean burn mode.

Lastly (for now) the oil filter location on the FSI in particular (it's similar to the 1.4 but extra pipework makes it more awkward).

At least the 2nd point is solve-able with an MYP or JDD gearbox conversion though. ?

This is not meant as a general A2 bash but more of an airing of moans

Things I hate about the A2

The different height pedals - so annoying - you really have to raise your foot to get it on the brake. On a long trip you get backache!

The A pillars - I have got used to these but every now and again I miss the odd 4x4 or 3.5 tonner that is coming round the roundabout in the blind spot created by them.

The fact that my wife has no idea how to drive a diesel and insists on trying to drive it like her mx5!

I'm sure more will come out!
Hate is a strong word, I suspect dislike is more appropriate.
Can't say there's anything I dislike about my FSI.
Mac.

Only one thing comes to mind, the warning 'beep' when the washer fluid is low or one of the bulbs has gone... Takes away 5 minutes of my life every time, if I am going to have a heart attack, that will be the reason :)

Returning to a 12 year old topic. WOW!

Jacking point design and the damage that results because they arent obvious or marked on the sill covers...

Poor effort Audi.

We all hate soft touch too, very short sighted on that one but the motor idustry was looking for something new to sell in the tactile experience.

Maybe the OSS drains could have been better designed to pass debris and a few grams more metal on the motor mount wouldnt have killed the project?

Otherwise, what a genius bit of packaging for a small car.

Why did Audi have to put the OBD socket in such an awkward place? I object to grovelling on my knees.

Andy

No car is perfect, the A2 has its faults, but it is so good overall I look past them. The biggest hate for me is not about my A2, but the simple fact that I can’t buy a brand new one. ? I’d be first in the queue if Audi made them again, the lines are timeless and it would make for a great modern day EV. The service flap would be an ideal location for the charging point too.

Think yourself lucky that your A2 has DIS ;) Us plebs only get the bleep on low fuel.

I have been thinking about this for a long time, come to conclusion that:
There is nothing I dislike about the A2 & I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT THE A2 :)
Maybe the oil leaks are a tad annoying, till I find them
