News Those photos.....at last!

David managed to haggle me into posting these pics for him, hopefully I can train him well in the future. Here are the pictures as requested, I think they do David's handywork real justice! Enjoy!

Custom trim on the full leather door cards.

The white-wall wheels do suit the denim blue. I like it! It does indeed give the effect of bigger wheels, whilst retaining the comfort of 15" alloys. Good idea.
The door cards are also great; whoever's leathered them knew what they were doing. Those leather sills looks really luxurious!
I'm not a fan of the interior colour, but that's no criticism of David's work, it's just my least favourite of the A2's original interior colours. I find the black stuff (clocks, stalks, controls, etc) set amongst the buscuit colour really awkward.
The chrome trim around the lower grille really suits the look of the car with the bodykit. The reflector inset in the spoiler also blends in nicely.

Keep up the good work!

Tom

Yes, I sure have .... and FSD's! I feel that the car is absolutely level .... Oh, do you know if it is easy to fit discs to the rear? Is that the set-up for the 1.6l petrol A2?

Oh, about the interior colour ..... I changed the dash from black because I don't like black! It feels so depressing, almost hearse-like and gloomy! Bring on the light and sunshine, Man! There realy isn't much black around .... you can't avoid the RNS-E and climate/stalks! I am not going to try to paint them with an artist's brush and enamel! LOL!

I'm also not a fan of an entirely black interior; I also find them too enclosed, and the beautiful lines of the interior are a little lost. Indeed, bring in the light and sunshine! However, a black dash is essential for my aesthetic tastes, for the reason already stated; the black bits amongst the buscuit just look awkward to my eye.
I thought I remembered you having FSDs + Weitec -30s, and the car's stance would suggest so, too. The front would appear to be about 10mm lower than the back, as is fairly standard with that set-up. Nose-down is fine, but arse-down looks terrible!
I have read a few bits and pieces about upgrading the rear brakes to discs. The general consensus seems to be that it's far more effort than it's worth. The FSI and the TDI90 both have rear discs, by the way. From what I've read, unless you're braking hard, the rear brakes rarely engage, meaning the discs themselves need frequent replacement in order to pass an MOT. Whilst I think the A2 looks better with the rear discs, it's certainly not a mod I'll ever consider.

Cheers,

Tom

Were these photos taken before the grille badge was illuminated and the fairly-lights added?

Hi Tom, Just returned from a trip into lovely Wales! ... Yes ..... I've nearly finished the grille badge mod! WOW, what a bit of "head-scratching" it's been, too! There was either the need to move parts around behind the grille, to give clearance for the light units, or to find very slim lighting units. Luckily, I have located RS festoon LED bulbs and I've managed to slim-down the actual bulb holders, too! Just one LED location is proving a bit difficult .... where the grill pressure- switch is located, but I'll get there! I have tried these bulbs, which consist of a 3x2 array of LED's, and they give a pretty impressive light output. Now, the choice is between night-only, green, LED's or daytime, permanent, white LED's behind a smoked lexan sheet? I asked for feedback as to which would be the best system to use? There is not enough room to have both, side-by-side .... Your advice as to which is the best to use is what I'd appreciate ..

David

WOW now thats what i call a NICE A2 , white walls look really good , tbh i thought it would look naff, but oh how wrong was i.
Im loving the reflector on the spoiler , might do that myself unless you have copyrighted it :) Thinking the white LEDs behind the smoked lexan sheet sounds like a good idea, would love to see it and again depending on copyright i might do that myself :)

Personally, I'd have it nothing other than white, to compliment the headlights and fogs. I'd also have it switched, so it's not on all the time. Firstly as I'm not sure of the legal status of such a light, and secondly because I imagine there'll simply be times when you'll not want it on, though you're in a better position to decide that than I am!

Tom

Yeh, thanks for your kind comments! No patents in place, yet! BUT, a limiting factor could be your shear determination to succeed in everything you take on, your problem-solving skills and your total brain-capacity!... LOL! (I used to be a big-head, but now I'm perfect!) LOL!

hhmmmmmm........Well for me.......as I like to be different (when I can)......it appeals.

Same as Tom, not sure on the biscuit interior, but it all seems to work as a package. I'd like to see it "in the flesh" so to speak......Hope you can make AIP this year so we can all have a good look.

I would change the colour of the RNS-E and climate panel though, so continuity of colour runs through the centre console and up through the dashboard, but that's only from looking at the pictures.

I think you have a lovely car David.....but I bet it's not normally that clean on your roads...!!

Go with white LED's for the front, what's that old saying......."blue and green.....should never be seen" (together).

As I'm a fan of the classic American car the whitewall's put a smile on my face......, but again as Tom's say's.....put the idea of wheel discs to one side.....or maybe prove us all wrong!!

Cheers

Jeff

I must say yours is the first car i've seen with the Votex kit running 15's and whether it's due partly to those whitewall tyres cleverly giving the impression of larger wheels i think it looks really good, whilst as you say riding as well and comfortable as any A2 can.

My hat's off to you for all the work you have put into your car.

The light/dark beige interior actually looks very classy in the flesh in my opinion but for me i would have chosen a different colour leather for the door cards but colour is all down to personal taste and i'm all for individualism.

One thing that i think might improve the look of the car further is fitting the later slatted front bonnet grille as i think it would match the lower slatted centre section of the lower bumper better than the smooth one whilst also making it look newer too, like the aero wiper mod does.

Well done again.

Tom .... I DID say "LOL" !
A2Z ..... Thanks for those kind comments! Now, as you say, it is all down to personal preference .... I really dislike that later, slatted grill! I have thought about spraying the smooth grill to match the bodywork, though ( it has even been sprayed matt black by an A2OC member!) ... I have THREE of them to play with! LOL!
On the factory cars, where the arm-rest is leather-clad, it matches the seats. I know that if the seats are in that bright red colour, then it DOES make the arm-rests really stand out!. I just chose to use a leather that was close to the seats ... it is called "Stratos" and is readily available. I just love the feel of it!
Now, GREEN night-running lights on a BLUE car? Don't mix green and blue, you say? Look, the green tinted lexan sheet that hides the LED's is very close to the grill's plastic tint. They will only be running in darkness, so the conflict between blue bodywork and the green lights is not too obvious? I really fancied blue lights (and they are available.... as is the blue, 1mm lexan sheet) but Mike (Skipton) said that there is a conflict with the Police? However, is that only if the blue lLED's were flashing? I have seen many lorry's with blatant blue lighting to the front! Blue LED's would look the very best! O.K. thanks for such an interest in my listing! Help with how to fit the DIS system for a reasonable cost would REALLY make my day!!
