those spring loaded pins holding in the rear seats

Hi All

After recently removing the rear seats to take some stuff to the tip, I was curious about those shiny retaining pins underneath the seat bottoms.

Noticing that they were some kind of spring loaded thing, and the fact that I'm a goon! I inadvertentley fiddled with em, until the collars snapped into the "seat is now connected to the floor" sort of way.... only problem is, they are on my kitchen floor, not the cars'!

hmmmm

is there anyway I can undo my meddle-ings?

the seat bottom now only just rests in the holes in the floor, it isn't secured as normal, to make matters worse, in my quest to put right what's wrong, I've now done the same to the second pin!

doh!

I hope some of you can understand this, as it's not that easy to follow, unless you've whipped your seats out!

Aaah, that old chestnut eh?

Yes, I've done exactly the same with mine when they were out of the car. A quick trip to my local dealer and they too were stumped until they consulted the Audi AG workshop manual and found the answer:

Place the front(under knee) edge of the seat into their locating lugs as normal when fitting back in the car, and fold the seat back down onto it. Now whilst pushing down on the back of the seat upright, pull hard on the release handle, and hey presto the springs pop back out and you can slam the seat back into the holes.

Its basically the same action as releasing the seat in the first place. :)
