Thule dont like the A2..

So I'm trying to look at buying a system to carry a couple of bikes on the roof as I cant buy anything at the moment for my other car as tesla dont care it seems after you've bought a car....anyway!

I've looked around and the one system I did find looks to use 754 feet but i cant find any reference to the length of aero wingbar to get. Trying to search for compatibility with the A2 now is impossible as Thule just dont hold the info and are being lazy - they just say no to anything related to the A2.

Anyone know what length I should be looking for or indeed any first hand experience? I'd prefer the wingbar system if I can get it due to decreased wind noise and easy use of the ecosystem for sliding on bike racks but I'm open to suggestions. Thanks

Hi Cheechy,
Apparently Thule do a roof bar system for the A2 https://www.towing.co.uk/Audi-A2-Thule-Roof-Bar-System-Complete, but it isn't aero.......
Not a big deal as whatever goes on it will drag a lot more than the bars...... just take the bars off if you aren't using them!

Yup these use the 754 clamps - but if you put this into Thule's website they deny all knowledge it seems :D

I'm guessing when you break down the parts that the 118 used is the actual length of the bar - in which case the aero 118 would be the same length?

There is an A2 for sale on Autotrader that's in Stamford and it's got genuine Audi roofbars, might worth contacting the seller to see if he wants to sell them separately.

Hi @cheechy ,

I have the Thule system on the roof right now, using the aero-type carriers. I hope you can recognize the system.

So go ahead and place the order 👍

So just found out the issue - its the fitting kit (Thule 1195) its not available anywhere to order now and is completely discontinued. So the 754 and Thule aero works but you have no way to fit to the car :(

Thanks guys will need to think of a plan B unless I can pickup second hand!

If you want I can try and sort you out here in the Netherlands 🇳🇱. On what notice do you need the carriers? Maybe that could be a solution. I know I have another set of rubber feet from a previous set.

Thanks for the kind offer.

This is what makes up the unique A2 fitting kit:

Thule 1195 fitting kit

So its rubber feet plus some kind of metal clamp? Sorry not clear on exactly what is required as I've never had roof bars on any car up until now :)

I've had both Thule and Audi roof bars. I could see that the Thule bars weren't suitable for the pan-roof A2. That was because the feet of the bars were in direct contact with the glass of the roof and it could crack. No so the Audi bars. They are O.K. even with the pan roof.

At present I cant get either :D Its weird as some other 3rd party options from opie oils, and roofbox amongst others aren't even listing the A2 as an option, yet the Audi 80 and 100 are on there from 10 years before the A2 came out. Certainly seems to be a shared database backend as its all the same options.

Thanks Steve unfortunately both are listing as out of stock. I think Thule haven't made these for some years as i've looked back on here with someone asking if anyone had some as far back as 2018!

I think i can rule out buying new I suspect.
