timing belt change - pricewise

I have just paid a total of £424 for my local Audi dealer to replace the timing belt, tensioner, water pump and ribbed belt!

You should be able to find a specialist to do it for less!

Cam Belt Replacement

I found out from this forum that it would cost me about 300-350 inclusive
http://www.audi.co.uk/owners-area/servicing-with-audi/affordable-servicing.html has a fixed price of 349 inclusive for a cam belt change. 450 if water pump has to replaced as well.

Seems like a decent price?

Do you know any other reliable/honest garage around Reading,Berkshire that could do this job?

thx for any help.

Just had mine done at SJB Autotech in Basingstoke (01256 477411). They charged £120 labour, £98.64 for CamBelt Kit, £33.60 for Water Pump all plus VAT. I also had car serviced at same time so I guess there would be some fluid costs that were included in the rest of the invoice.
They have a very good reputation locally and are VAG Specialists. They even gave me an A2 as a courtesy car. No links with them except as a very happy customer. Their hourly rate is £48 +VAT.

Well it cost me 280 pounds for:

( 160.00 )
parts including: timing belt kit ( 2x belts, rollers/tensioners,idler ), alternator belt, water pump, new coolant.
( 120.00 ) labour

I totally recommend this guy. Reading based, berkshire.
If anyones interested, PM please.

Agnew Audi Belfast

The above quoted £413.75 inclusive, for Timing belt, rollers, tensioners + water pump. Couldn't compete with independents but not too bad!
